Guerao and Lo Cicero really haven't delivered on their sprint stats at all - while Ewan and Swift only have one stage result to call upon of the two so far.
Looking at the stage profile, we've gone from one to two to three intermediate sprints. Opportunities for time bonuses, but after the 60 rider split yesterday, will any of the attackers have any benefit to take from such bonuses anymore?
Early attackers:
Eekhoff
Richardson
Florez
Alba
Christian
Bissegger
Svab
Juodvalkis
Affini
Wirtgen
Nych
Mas
Bernas
Kochetkov
No move is able to materialise before the intermediate sprint though - not that that means the sprinters are going to go for it.
Instead new attacks just before it. Yamamoto away for first, Mas back at it for 2nd. Interestingly though, Eekhoff manages to take 3rd. He is in the lead GC group, and he is also an U25 rider - a very useful second - potentially.
Yamamoto and Mas aren't able to pull away too much though.
Today's line astern attack features:
Cepeda
Soulious
Kochetkov
Garrison
Gladysh
Florez
Affini
There's been a picture. 12th overall, and main leadout rider for Podium Ambition, Aberasturi. He really needs a breakaway to go clear, else this could be difficult to make a return.
It all comes back together at the front, and then two riders, separately, are able to get a gap: Nych and Wallays.
But then we get a Repsol team attack!
Bernas, Barbero, Mas and Rodriguez having some fun. They are joined by Svab, Acosta and
De Bod.
Still nothing quite sticking though.
Then finally, after about 70km of racing, a breakaway sticks!
Bernas
Richardson
Wirtgen
Nooytens
Gunnlaugsson
Sadly for Aberasturi, he is 5 minutes behind the peloton at this point, and won't be returning.
Of all Repsol attackers, Bernas is one of those who did make the split yesterday. And the only one of these five who did make it. So only he has a real interest in the intermediate sprint.
Good for him then that he wins it!
The breakaway still leads - but is not in one piece - come the next intermediate sprint. The three non-McCormick riders first dropped the two teammates - with experience outshowing future talent - and secondly Bernas went solo. He therefore takes his time bonus gains up to 6.
At this point his lead has crept back up over 2 minutes - with the chase from Minions, Valio and Bakkafrost proving to be somewhat ineffective in recent kilometres.
However Bakkafrost persevere, MOL join them, and the attackers fade. Bernas is caught with 11.4km to go.
This does not end the drama though, as the two teams continue pushing. They force a split, with their entire 8-man teams involved, and some other sprinters as well. Really showing some benefits from sending a full set of riders to the race.

Swift had initially missed it, but Aular rescued him.
There's enough time for the other teams to mobilise, and ensure the gap closes. But other sprinters - including Ewan, Gaviria and race leader Boeckmans - are certainly on the back foot here.
MOL now setting up their leadout. Bille and Pons for Lo Cicero. Vesely is hot on their heels.
But they get disrupted, so attention turns to Bakkafrost. Sarreau looking to set up Perera and Guarnieri. Guerao needs a result, and is following the Italian.
For the third stage running now, those at the front start to move clear - leaving some of the top sprinters behind.

Guerao
Manninen
Avelino
Cavendish is trying to get back into it, with Rowe following. Forget about anyone else.
Final kilometre! A fading Perera has forced Guarnieri to go, while Pons has been able to develop a better leadout for Lo Cicero this time.
Lo Cicero and Guerao take up the challenge against Guarnieri.
Guarnieri is swept out of it. But now it is whether Avelino, Manninen and Vesely can come up from behind.
One can, and in some style. An emphatic win for Matti Manninen!
Guerao takes a close 2nd place from Vesely and [ Avelino. The Portugese sprinter now the only one to have been in contention across all three stages.
Their leadouts got them in the mix, but in the end it is 5th and 6th for Lo Cicero and Guarnieri. While Rowe was able to pass Cavendish for 7th.
Again, leadouts hold out for the final Top 10 placings, Pons and Perera. Gaviria back in 11th today, ahead of Swift and Reinhardt with Boeckmans a distant 14th.
There was almost another split today after 62nd place, this time though Andorra were able to keep the gap below 20 seconds - which ratifies the time bonus gain for Eekhoff.
Manninen moves into the race lead, with a 3 second advantage over Boeckmans.
Vesely has gone into 3rd at 16 seconds, with both Cavendish and Avelino at 17 seconds, Swift at 18. Lo Cicero, Ewan and Guerao together at 25 seconds - still mathematically in with a chance of overall victory.
Guarnieri completes the Top 10 ahead of Gaviria, with a deficit of 27 and 28 seconds respectively.
It's a lead of 2 points for Manninen over Boeckmans in that competition, 45 on 43. Swift, Cavendish and Avelino all on 34.
Mas naturally retains the KoM lead - there are two more climbs on the final stage though.
Cherkasov leads the U25 competition still, now by 2 seconds over Eekhoff. Nych now in 3rd, ahead of Hodeg.
Podium Ambition keep their teams classification lead on 137 placement points. MOL now up to 2nd n 190, Aramco down to 3rd on 220. Berg on 288, Lierse 300.
