An interesting team time trial of 40 km today, going up and down a little bit. Nevertheless, there is only one favourite, and that is Repsol – Netflix. It seems unlikely for yellow jersey Vichot to still be in the lead after today’s race. Every team will be in the picture at the first chrono today, after that the focus will be on the best teams.
Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team is the first to start, and they’re not expected to be among the best today. It is however a nice opportunity to have a look at Siddikov’s Uzbeki TT jersey and the Slovenian Katrasnik still wearing the green.
Guave’s Sunlight Cycling is also not supposed to be the best TTT squad, even though they have Chilean TT champion Burmann and former stage winner and GC leader Oram. They improve the time of Gjensidige by seven seconds at the first chrono.
Adastra N Hell Energy Cycling is being led by Navardauskas, who finished third in yesterday’s stage. The German team is 2 seconds faster than Gjensidige, but 5 seconds slower than Guave’s Sunlight Cycling. Canelon still looking very angry after what happened in stage 1.
Trans Cycling Team shouldn’t be competing for the win today neither. They are currently last at the first chrono.
Kirzigistan’s finest, Evgeny Russo, closes the line for Aramco DP. Their aerodynamics look great and and so they are; they improve Guave’s time by 17 seconds!
Vichot really likes his yellow jersey and is planning on keeping it if possible. His team is doing alright, as Bakkafrost dive four seconds under the time of Aramco DP!
He’s wearing a nice suit and tie, but Willwohl is looking incredibly scary. His team, Kraftwerk Man Machine, are the new leaders as they improve Bakkafrost’s time by another 9 seconds!
Average first chrono by Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff, as they are fourth out of eight teams so far. Also, somebody please start a petition to ban names such as Andriafenomananiaina.
DK – SVA Zalgiris is doing a great job for leader Intxausti so far, as they have the new best time with a three second lead over Kraftwerk!
They immediately get overruled by Berg Cycles though, who are another three seconds faster and doing a solid job for leader Henao Montoya!
MOL now passing the first chrono and only one second slower than Berg Cycles. MOL has a former Catalunya GC winner in its squad with Hong Kong’s national hero Ki Ho Choi.
Polar is hoping for a good GC with Latour. They are currently fifth out of twelve teams so far, 14” behind Berg Cycles.
Repsol – Netflix just doing what everybody expected and improving the best time by another 14 seconds!
Desigual, with GC favourite Tenorio and white jersey Errazkin, is the best of the rest so far. They are 9” slower than Repsol – Netflix.
Could a surprise be in the making? Azteca – NBCSN is only 1” slower than the best time so far!
Meanwhile Kraftwerk Man Machine is the best out of the eight first teams at the second chrono. Only Bakkafrost coming relatively close at 24 seconds.
They might have the Croatian TT champion Durasek, it’s not enough for Nordstrom – CA Technologies to be among the best ten teams at the first chrono.
Team Europcar is also not a TTT squad, having the 13th time so far.
As the best team in the ranking, Glanbia Foods Cycling Project were the last to start. Their race so far is disappointing, ranking 10th out of 18 teams at the first chrono.
Great second part by DK – SVA Zalgiris! At the first chrono they were slower than Berg Cycles and MOL, their lead over those teams is now 27” and 22”. Kraftwerk second so far being 3” slower than DK – SVA Zalgiris!
The small hill seems to be the cause of the problems for many teams! Repsol – Netflix is the new leader at the second chrono, but is only a second faster than DK – SVA Zalgiris!
Desigual has been set back to the fourth place but did actually come 3” closer to Repsol – Netflix! They seem to be losing their riders quickly, however!
We have a new leader at the second chrono! Azteca – NBCSN still riding as one strong unit and beating Repsol’s time by four seconds!
DK – SVA Zalgiris are the best at the finish line so far, beating Kraftwerk by 5”, Berg Cycles by 22” and MOL by 32”!
Would you look at that! Polar was eight at the first chrono, seventh at the second, and now leads the race! The Finnish team did rode a surprisingly good last part and improve the best time by three seconds!
Spanish TT champion Gonzalez Salas brings today’s favourite Repsol – Netflix home. They found their rhythm and crush the best time by almost half a minute!
Desigual couldn’t do the same for GC man Tenorio! They’re currently fourth, losing 32” against Repsol – Netflix.
Azteca – NBCSN holds on to their lead though! Any team winning a TTT against Repsol – Netflix is a surprise winner, and the cycling fans were definitely in for a surprise today! They are 8” faster at the finish, and now have to wait for the other teams to come in! Manager kentaurus already seeming quite sure of the victory though, as he opens the first bottles of champagne!
Glanbia Foods Cycling Project is the last team to finish and takes the 9th place out of 18. We can imagine this is not what their manager was hoping to achieve. Azteca wins!
Azteca is the winner of the TTT
