Volta a Catalunya - Stage 3
Nemolito
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat01.PNG

An interesting team time trial of 40 km today, going up and down a little bit. Nevertheless, there is only one favourite, and that is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix. It seems unlikely for yellow jersey pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bak.png Vichot to still be in the lead after today’s race. Every team will be in the picture at the first chrono today, after that the focus will be on the best teams.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat02.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Gjensidige Pro Cycling Team is the first to start, and they’re not expected to be among the best today. It is however a nice opportunity to have a look at Siddikov’s Uzbeki TT jersey and the Slovenian Katrasnik still wearing the green.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat03.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gsc.png Guave’s Sunlight Cycling is also not supposed to be the best TTT squad, even though they have Chilean TT champion Burmann and former stage winner and GC leader Oram. They improve the time of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Gjensidige by seven seconds at the first chrono.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat04.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/anh.png Adastra N Hell Energy Cycling is being led by Navardauskas, who finished third in yesterday’s stage. The German team is 2 seconds faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gct.png Gjensidige, but 5 seconds slower than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gsc.png Guave’s Sunlight Cycling. Canelon still looking very angry after what happened in stage 1.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat05.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/tst.png Trans Cycling Team shouldn’t be competing for the win today neither. They are currently last at the first chrono.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat06.PNG

Kirzigistan’s finest, Evgeny Russo, closes the line for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/adp.png Aramco DP. Their aerodynamics look great and and so they are; they improve pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gsc.png Guave’s time by 17 seconds!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat07.PNG

Vichot really likes his yellow jersey and is planning on keeping it if possible. His team is doing alright, as pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bak.png Bakkafrost dive four seconds under the time of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/adp.png Aramco DP!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat08.PNG

He’s wearing a nice suit and tie, but Willwohl is looking incredibly scary. His team, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk Man Machine, are the new leaders as they improve pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bak.png Bakkafrost’s time by another 9 seconds!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat09.PNG

Average first chrono by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/p4e.png Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff, as they are fourth out of eight teams so far. Also, somebody please start a petition to ban names such as Andriafenomananiaina.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat10.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/zal.png DK – SVA Zalgiris is doing a great job for leader Intxausti so far, as they have the new best time with a three second lead over pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat11.PNG

They immediately get overruled by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Berg Cycles though, who are another three seconds faster and doing a solid job for leader Henao Montoya!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat12.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/mol.png MOL now passing the first chrono and only one second slower than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Berg Cycles. MOL has a former Catalunya GC winner in its squad with Hong Kong’s national hero Ki Ho Choi.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat13.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/pol.png Polar is hoping for a good GC with Latour. They are currently fifth out of twelve teams so far, 14” behindpcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Berg Cycles.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat14.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix just doing what everybody expected and improving the best time by another 14 seconds!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat15.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/des.png Desigual, with GC favourite Tenorio and white jersey Errazkin, is the best of the rest so far. They are 9” slower than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat16.PNG

Could a surprise be in the making? pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/azt.png Azteca – NBCSN is only 1” slower than the best time so far!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat17.PNG

Meanwhile pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk Man Machine is the best out of the eight first teams at the second chrono. Only pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bak.png Bakkafrost coming relatively close at 24 seconds.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat18.PNG

They might have the Croatian TT champion Durasek, it’s not enough for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/nca.png Nordstrom – CA Technologies to be among the best ten teams at the first chrono.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat19.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/eur.png Team Europcar is also not a TTT squad, having the 13th time so far.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat20.PNG

As the best team in the ranking, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gla.png Glanbia Foods Cycling Project were the last to start. Their race so far is disappointing, ranking 10th out of 18 teams at the first chrono.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat21.PNG

Great second part by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/zal.png DK – SVA Zalgiris! At the first chrono they were slower than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Berg Cycles and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/mol.png MOL, their lead over those teams is now 27” and 22”. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk second so far being 3” slower than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/zal.png DK – SVA Zalgiris!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat22.PNG

The small hill seems to be the cause of the problems for many teams! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix is the new leader at the second chrono, but is only a second faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/zal.png DK – SVA Zalgiris!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat23.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/des.png Desigual has been set back to the fourth place but did actually come 3” closer to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix! They seem to be losing their riders quickly, however!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat24.PNG

We have a new leader at the second chrono! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/azt.png Azteca – NBCSN still riding as one strong unit and beating Repsol’s time by four seconds!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat25.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/zal.png DK – SVA Zalgiris are the best at the finish line so far, beating pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/kmm.png Kraftwerk by 5”, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/bgc.png Berg Cycles by 22” and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/mol.png MOL by 32”!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat26.PNG

Would you look at that! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/pol.png Polar was eight at the first chrono, seventh at the second, and now leads the race! The Finnish team did rode a surprisingly good last part and improve the best time by three seconds!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat27.PNG

Spanish TT champion Gonzalez Salas brings today’s favourite pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix home. They found their rhythm and crush the best time by almost half a minute!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat28.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/des.png Desigual couldn’t do the same for GC man Tenorio! They’re currently fourth, losing 32” against pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat29.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/azt.png Azteca – NBCSN holds on to their lead though! Any team winning a TTT against pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/rpn.png Repsol – Netflix is a surprise winner, and the cycling fans were definitely in for a surprise today! They are 8” faster at the finish, and now have to wait for the other teams to come in! Manager kentaurus already seeming quite sure of the victory though, as he opens the first bottles of champagne!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat30.PNG

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/gla.png Glanbia Foods Cycling Project is the last team to finish and takes the 9th place out of 18. We can imagine this is not what their manager was hoping to achieve.pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Micros/azt.png Azteca wins!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2020/Reports/C1/Catalunyaa/s3/3cat31.PNG

Azteca is the winner of the TTT
