I am new to this forum but have been a big fan of the Cycling Manager series of games. I recently bought PCM 2007 and have been interested in trying to do some database editing. I downloaded the CDB Packer/Unpacker program so that I could do some work in the Hannes Convertors or PCM Kicker. I might be being really dumb but when I run this program to unpack a database what happens? I have ran it a few times and nothing appears to happen, does it change the size of the database file? or do I just use Hannes or PCM Kicker after running the program?
If someone could give me an idea what they usually do it would be much appreciated.
In answer to my own post it was very much as expected I had been doing something dumb. Problem resolved as a newbie to the forum I have a lot to learn about editing the PCM Database.
CDB Packer / Unpacker does indeed do nothing else than "packing" (making the file smaller) and "unpacking" (making the file larger). You need other editors to do some work with the database, but it seems like you've figured that out by now
Problem wasnt that I was expecting the Unpacker/Packer to be an editor. I had read that you had to unpack databases before editing them. What I thought I had to do was unpack the database file in the PCM Daily update to use Hannes Convertor. Finally got some time off work to figure things out and have made the changes to the database I wanted to make like replacing the teams that now have no sponsors e.g. Credit Agricole, Gerolsteiner. Added a Cervolo team for Sastre but not sure who else will join him on that team and made a temp jersey for them.
