The final stage and while being pan flat and more a crit race, still a lot can be changed GC and Points wise.
The actual situation in the GC post stage 5.
1 Hugo Houle Xero Racing 17h33'03 2 Marko Kump Nordstrom - CA Technologies + 4 3 Bruno Borges Duolingo + 9 4 Tosh Van der Sande Farfetch Pro Cycling + 12 5 Simon Yates Desigual + 16 6 Anthony Turgis Farfetch Pro Cycling + 21 7 Joshua Edmondson BNZ Cycling Team + 26 8 Pedro Miguel Paulinho Berg Cycles + 27 9 Oleksandr Prevar Team Popo4Ever p/b Nemiroff + 37 10 Dimitri Claeys Minions + 39 11 Diego Ulissi Aramco DP + 42 12 Fabio Silvestre Berg Cycles + 49 13 Fernando Gaviria Lierse SK - Pizza Ullo PCTeam s.t.
Houle cleraly would prefer a break winning today as it`s just 4s to Kump, who is a stronger sprinter normally.
Van der Sande another sprinter just 12s off and basically this trio might decide the GC winner in the end as Borges and the others are puncheurs without the fastest pace. That said Yates was regularly around in the sprint finishes, so he must be motivated to do do again.
Other than that Gaviria and Silvestre are still close to the top10 and could climb up to 7th maximum with the finish bonus seconds.
6 riders in the break. Never easy but always possible to surprise, in especially on the final day, when some teams might even want them to win such as Xero.

Yates
Granigan
Xero indeed didn`t do anything today. But the sprinter teams did, namely Lierse, Bakkafrost and MOL.
A bit surprising that neither Nordstrom for Kump nor Farfetch for Van der Sande realized they are in need to beat the break.
With 17km to go they almost make the catch, which then was made 5km later!
The trains formed in the next couple kilometers and we see the trains with 3km to go.
Sarreau Perera Pons Gaviria Guarnieri Nelson Van der Sande Silvestre Kump Houle Yates Lo Cicero Vesely
Guarnieri perfectly placed while Gaviria still looking for the exact wheel to follow.
All riders with GC chances still around with GC leader Houle though worst placed by those.
Gaviria a bit surprisingly decided not to follow Guarnieri`s perfect train as now Nelson and Van der Sande do, but instead moving far to the left behind his own support Biermans. Easily not a sprinter but a rider with a big engine on the flat.
Behind him Silvestre, Lay and Houle.
Lo Cicero in the middle with Kump a bit behind him.
Not looking good for Kump as he did not make contact with any of those 3 trains!
Bakkafrost still going strongest while Drapac and Wippert made it to the MOL train behind Lo Cicero.
Lierse hanging a bit behind clearly showing that Biermans is not the most ideal leadout.
Houle a bit with a gap to those with Kump right behind him.
Guarnieri on the far left, then Nelson and Van der Sande.
Lo Cicero in the middle with Drapac and Wippert behind and Gaviria found it`s way towards the middle as well having gapped Silvestre and co.
And the high pace from Gaviria including Lo Cicero`s slipstream was enough to bring him the first win which also sees him moving up in the GC quite a lot.
On the other side a sprinter that really surprised the whole race. Tosh Van der Sande up to 2nd! Ahead of Wippert with Silvestre, Drapac, Nelson, Lay following.
This means, Guarnieri in 10th only is losing the Points against Gaviria!
But more important With Houle in 9th only and Kump in 12th and Borges 13th Van der Sande goes past them all taking the GC for Farfetch!
Who had expected this beforehand? Great sprinting and huge fights on the hills.
For Lo Cicero a race that showed his limitations. Not the strongest train and then not the acceleration needed to beat the others.
