I have the "Downloaded" English version of PCM2008 and see that it calls out the commentary of 100 riders. The database has the potential for 361 rider commentaries that I know of, so, my question is does the "Store bought" version have more then the 100 riders commentaries listed?
Both versions feature the exact same features

Is it also possible to add different lines for the same event?
"countered by xxx" is a bit tideous. |

The in-game commentary dosen't seem to have been enhanced much over the last few editions of the game.
Even though other features and fixes would be more important in the 2009 game, a well known commentary voice and possibly a commentary team would be a great addition to the game. |

There are french db's that actually use real commentary from real recordings,
I'd like to see one for English, maybe Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen for us Americans?
Maybe even British voices, but I just want to stop hearing THIS:

The original PCM (from 2005), actually had a decent british commentator instead of the american sounding one we got in PCM06 and forward.

Yes but they air on American TV, but as an ignorant American I see people on British TV as "British-er" than Ligget and Sherwen
Unless of course they do some coverage that I'm not familiar with.

They do a 1-hour highlight show during the tour in England |

I see, that's not too much though, and btw, doesn't Liggett live in South Africa? I know he was born in the UK but during this year's TDF coverage on Versus, I remember the two of them blabbering on about money and currency and how much this was in this currency and he said something about the rand in his home country. |

It's one hell of a job, though, to make those commentaries, especially if you want to make it sound "right". For the same reason, I haven't had commentary on ever since it was introduced in the PCM series |

But I think if done right, it could really brighten the experience, making it much more realistic, especially if there were two commentators, how many times do you turn on a sport program and hear only one guy talking? I'd say never, because that would make for a boring game/race/match/whatever.
So either cyanide steps it up and either makes their commentator less annoying, or at least give him a partner, so that we only hear his voice half the time. |

exactly what i do, and not just in pcm, in pretty much every game that includes 'commentary'. Repeatedly listening to the same comments all the time just pisses me off, no matter who the commentator. Having said that, how quickly i turn off the commentary depends on the annoyingness of the commentator. So, for pes, 5 days, and pcm, 6 hours. |

I was just watching a recap of the Tour of Ireland today, and realized that in cycling, the commentators don't just say something when a major event happens (attack, etc.), they have conversations about how the riders are feeling, and how the race might play out, and it's much more in depth than what cyanide makes it.
Bigger companies like EA Games, have amazing commentary for their sports games. I rented Madden NFL '09 (Americans, you'll know what I'm talking about) yesterday, and I played a game where John Madden was talking about the New England Patriots/New York Jets' rivalry, it sounded exactly like a live game on TV, and I think now that cyanide has significantly up'd the overall gameplay aspect of PCM, they should spend more time on the small stuff, like commentary. |

Not sure where Ligget lives but youre probably talking about Paul Sherwen. He can speak Swahili (He I think talked to Froome in Sawhili at some point when the tour was on) and lives on the Ugandan/Kenyan border.
Back on topic, I dont really agree that Cyanide should focus much more on commentary. Better to fix and improve the more important parts of the game - I just do my own commentary for races anyway
