Hey guys!
I'm new to these forums and fairly new to the game (Started with PCM07)
Jus wanted to say this is a really awesome website, and the effort people go to to improve aspects of the game is really great!
Yes this post has a point!
Basically, I was wondering if I could get a few pointers about the game, I played the previous version rather cluelessly, not setting up schedules, being rather rubbish at mountain stages, unable to sort out people's fatigue levels etc.
I've obviously read the manuals and played the tutorials, but the new game's tutorial is a bit bare, and theres only so much i can get from the manual! So if anybody has any good tips to share, I'd be very appreciative!
The Career Guide which Crommy posted should explain the basics of the management part of the game. However, you should keep in mind that especially the 3D road racing part has changed quite a lot since that guide was written.
(Fitness for Dummies is also for PCM07 and may not be fully "compatible" with PCM08 - it's a good read, though, explaining the basics about the fitness system)
So, with the Career Guide, Fitness for Dummies and "How to Win", you should be off to a good start. If not, feel free to ask again
First of all: Welcome. This is indeed a great website with many knowledgable and helpful people. Now for some advice (take it or leave it):
1. Start with a team you know. I find it is easyer to decide training schedules and which races the riders should ride, when you know them IRL. You can always take a smaller and unknown team, when you are more familar with the game.
2. Start out on easy or normal. There is no shame in starting on an easy difficulty level. First of all the easyer levels are more forgiving when you are experimenting and getting to know the game. Change the setting when you start winning a lot, to keep the game challenging.
3. Ride most races, even the small ones. You'll learn a lot about the game AND your riders' strenghts and weaknesses when playing the races. You'll learn very little when simming.
4. Search the forums on this site, and ask if you have questions. As I said, people know a lot and are very helpful. (But don't ask questions that are answered in the manual)
yeh in the 07 version i mainly played with discovery channel as i knew their team best and played through most events (i didnt know about fatigue and all that back then, and fitness dropping and all that) on easy level
but iv been watching more and more cycling the past 2 years (and going to see 1 of the stages of the tour of britain soon!), so i might give it a go on medium with rock racing or health net, should be a nice challenge anyway!
