While Poland has three professional teams (Fablok, Kulczyk and Netia), only the latter is interested in the National Championship. On this hilly course, they have the largest squad and the biggest favorite: Kwiatkowski.
Netia using the numerical advantage by making a train on the hill, Franczak, Malecki and Gorecki trying to drop as many riders as possible. All filler riders who got the chance due to the cancellations are dropped already.
Bernas then completes the plan by attacking. Zielinski was the only non-Netia rider who kept up with the train and also has the strength to respond to the attack. Kwiatkowski does not accept this mutiny and also follows his teammate.
The trio joins forces and leads by two minutes over the others professionals heading up the final hill. Will the Netia riders work together this time or will Zielinski outsmart them?
No team tactics, Bernas leading the sprint and Kwiatkowski surprisingly the weakest of the trio. Zielinski has to dig deep to follow Bernas.
Zielinski is also cooked, Pawel Bernas is champion of Poland! Zielinski just holds on to second ahead of Kwiatkowski, who feels betrayed by his lieutenant. Two minutes later, Honkisz beats Stachowiak, Wisniowski, Warchol and Domagalski for fourth.
The two favorites for the Polish Time Trial Championship are Marchewka and Rekita. But anything can happen obviously.
The first time to mark is Pszczolarski's 1h07'05, which is thirty seconds faster than Sajnok.
The new World Champion Wisniowski, though on a terrain and discipline as far removed as possible, is faster by 1'13. A Polish jersey next to the rainbow jersey will look nice.
But his dreams for his wardrobe selection are disrupted by Domagalski, who beats him by 23 seconds. Now it is time for the two favorites.
Rekita is seventeen seconds slower than Domagalski. After the first checkpoint. Terrible day for the Netia rider, he is even slower than Wisniowski and will not become Polish champion.
Where the other favorite failed to live up to expectation, Marchewka does manage to redeem his status by beating Domagalski by a minute and four seconds.
Krzysztof Marchewka wins his first Polish Championship!
