3 men went in the breakaway: Alex Dowsett, Chris Anker Sørensen and Christian Pömer
The lead went up to 12 minutes when, with a very strong wind, Gatorade and Wiggle came forward to chase
The attacks from the favourites came with 45km to go
Wegmann, Leukemans, Bertagnolli, Zaballa and Hagen caught up with the breakaway
Proni and Paolini chase at 33 seconds, while behind them Ernst&Young lead the chase for Valjavec, with the 2 Procycling riders Froome and Roche also in there
The front group arent able to pull away from the chase of Ernst&Young and Procycling so Hagen attacks
He was caught though - with the move only dropping 2 of the 3 breakaway riders, with Chris Anker Sorensen still there
Ernst&Young have been setting a furious pace and thanks inpart to the wind, Rast, Vansummeren and Valjavec have pulled away from their group
And the trio sweep past the lead group, with only Bertagnolli keeping up
Rast drops back to Hagen, Zaballa, Leukemens and Wegmann at 18 seconds, with at 38 seconds to the front trio a group of 7 - Grivko, Paolini, Froome, Proni, Roche, Ivanov and Mazzanti
But with 12km to go, all 3 of these groups have merged together to form a large 15 man lead group
Nicholas Roche went on the attack
He got a small gap and was able to hold it for a while
But caught with 5km to go
Chris Froome made an attempt to get away at the start of the final hill
But it is Fabian Wegmann who is at the front as the final sprint begins
But Sergey Ivanov emerges strongly from the pack
And Ivanov wins! Quite comfortably too
2nd and 3rd for Champion (Leukemans and Paolini) with Hagen in 4th
Mazzanti takes 5th while Froome just edges out Zaballa for 6th. Roche is 8th as Wegmann fades to 9th
Valjavec finished a disappointing 11th while Bertagnolli, like Wegmann, struggled in the final sprint and only managed 15th.
For the record, if the break had stayed away the winner would have been Chris Anker Sorenson who finished 32nd ahead of his companions Pomer and Dowsett who can be seen approaching the line
