Fast forward to 50km to go (2 climbs remaining) and the break still leads by 2’06. 95 riders remain in the peloton, with all of the big names still present.

The break are caught at the foot of the penultimate climb with 28km to go, with the peloton now having grown to number 127 riders.

Nothing of note happens until we reach the foot of the final climb with 5km to go, with 105 riders still up front.
