Is it just me that find races with hills or mountains highly unrealistic? If I put a rider in front to set the pace up the climb, all my GC guys will run out of red and yellow energy, while no one is being dropped from the peloton. Just did a Giro stage where Groeneweggen (hill 58 mountain 58) was still in top 5 at the top of the mountain, even though all my GC guys were all out of energy, and not a single rider was dropped. They are in good form and +75 mountain and hill.
How the hell do you ride races with hills or mountains and thin out the field?
With +5 day form and during a peak your rider could have been 70 mountain instead of 58, but still this never happened to me. How far was the top of the mountain to the end of the stage? Also try to use teamates to protect your main riders and don't move them front and back of the peleton all the time, they could loose all their energy just trying to get in front. If you use the "stay there" command, don't put their effort at 99% as well I find that sometimes it is better to just use the manual cursor for effort thn letting them try to stay in position on their own.
Also "thin out the field" actually happens even if all cyclist are still there! AI is a bit stupid and will use all their energy to stay in the peleton so a good part of the cyclists could still be here but have their yellow, green and red bars depleted and won't be able to do anything at the first attack in front.
