Our opening attack today comes from Mäder looking to build on his teams breakaway success, with him is Kämna.
180 km
Only 6 kilometers later and we are all back together as some strong efforts rendered the attempt useless.
176 km
Our next real attempt at making a breakaway comes from Olei and Zakaria.
160 km
It takes some effort, but finally they are joined by three other riders to from our break of the day. Leading them is Seibeb with Marczynski and Davison.
138 km
Only Marczynski made an effort for the first sprint point and wins it easily, adding to his one point he already had.
Marczynski : 6 (7)
Olei : 4
Zakaria : 2
123 km
The first category 4 climb would be much more contested with Zakaria just beating out Davison.
Zakaria : 5
Davison : 3
Olei : 1
106 km
The KoM points would continue to be seriously contested as we see the riders really bunched up for the next cat. 4 climb which really ends up hurting Davison.
Seibeb : 5
Olei : 3 (4)
Zakaria : 1 (6)
58 km
The last climb of the day is also contentious as Seibeb just nips Davison.
Seibeb : 6 (11)
Davison : 4 (7)
Marczynski : 2
49 km
They won't quite roll though the 2nd sprint point, but they don't really fight too hard either as Marczynski once again takes it. Zakaria is gone having spent everything he had just to survive that last climb.
Marczynski : 6 (13)
Olei : 4 (8)
Seibeb : 2
27 km
The final sprint point of the day as we are now on the circuit and we don't see much change at the front, but the peloton isn't much behind anymore either.
Marczynski : 6 (19)
Olei : 4 (12)
Seibeb : 2 (4)
10 km
We are all back together now and it is a dominant showing from Popo4Ever with complete control of the front.
4 km
It looks bad for some of the sprinters, here we see Rowe a good distance from the front, I'm not sure those who struggle with climbing ever recovered from the earlier category 3.
300 m
We at least will get to see some fireworks in a four man race to the line. From left to right as we see it:
Lobato del Valle
Appollonio
Reinhardt
Lay
fin
It's separated by almost nothing but the winner today is Lobato del Valle who doubles up the surprises for Delvaux.
Right with him is Reinhardt followed by Lay and probably a disappointed Appollonio who was the favorite for today.
