Ceramica Flaminia it is, ofcourse using my own Db and playing on hard
Meanwhile my personal goal is getting a wildcard to the Giro, our first race is the Tour de Langkawi where Marczynski will be our leader while Khalilov is our sprinter
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.
One of the few flat stages which actually has some climbs in it so the more adventerous riders know that they have a shot today. Early on 3 riders attack, a Frenchie, a Spaniard and a Portugese
Lloyd Mondory leads in front of Cobelo and Faria
They get a huge lead but wouldnt make it, Faria is caught with 20 kms to go while his fellow escapees Cobelo and Mondory are caught 5 kms later on. On the final hill Trentin decides to give it a go and he is not the only one who was preparing for an attack!
Lhottelerie up front while Di Luca, Glasner, Trentin and Scognamiglio try to follow!
However with only 3 kms to go the pack is right onto the escapees, Di Luca, Glasner, Lhottelerie and Scognamiglio however stay up front while Trentin already sees the sprinting bunch coming closer and gives it a rest, Scognamiglio and Lhottelerie seem to be empty as they get caught by the sprinting herd in the final metres but Di Luca and Glasner (!) fight it out for the win!
Di Luca wins?
He wins but Petacchi (on the right) doesnt cheer for him!

We've got lots of pancake flat stages ahead of us, what did the first one bring us?
A break of 8 led by Criel and Bertolini
With 20 kms to go, both Collstrop riders, Criel and Suray drop back and with 12 kms to go Cannone is the last attacked to be caught and so we get ready for a bunchsprint. Peta is the clear favourite but in a messy sprint its Sweden's national champion Backstedt who finds himself upfront with 150 metres to go!
Magnus up front but there comes Pollack while Peta is boxed in!
Khalilov also tries to get up front but he just lacks the power but still ends 5th. Petacchi didnt have time enough to get out of his bad position and so Backstedt and Pollack fight it out and as expected Backstedt seems to lack the real sprinting power to finish it off
And so Pollack takes it but its close!

Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.
Today was bound to be another day for the sprinters, early on a big group of 12 was formed with Brambilla representing Flaminia
Impey and Goessinen lead the break of 12
In the end they were caught with 13 kms to go while Moser was caught with 9 kms to go, in the sprint Petacchi made sure he was not boxed in this time and so he soon had a nice lead, Khalilov was way in the back and wouldnt fight for the win today
Petacchi on his way to an easy win here?
Peta wins easily! Khalilov fights back strongly to end 3rd!

Petacchi takes over the lead and has a 4 second lead over Backstedt, Khalilov is 7th and 20 seconds behind Petacchi
Dwight K. Schrute: 'I'm not a hero. Im just a mere defender of the office. You know who is a hero? Hiro from Heroes. That's a hero. And Bono'.
Well what excitement will this flat stage bring us?
A break of 9 led by Bertolini and Lund with Fumaglia in it
However Volksbank, LPR and Slipstream are sending its troops out there to get the break back, but then 2 Italians decide to give it one last go
Finetto and Fumaglia attack with 12 kms to go
But with 7 kms to go their adventure ends, and so we get a bunchsprint, Khalilov is determined to get the wheel of either Petacchi or Backstedt and since Peta is a bit too far in the back he follows Backstedt who has already proven to be strong the past few stages
Backstedt lead out by Friedman, Khalilov is in a perfect position!
Then the sprint starts, CA's Bonnet takes an early lead but on the other side of the road Backstedt accelerates and boy is he strong, Khalilov is just able to stay in his wheel when they get out of the corner!
There comes Backstedt while Khalilov is still sitting in his wheel!
Then the Ukranian tried to get past him, he got out of Backstedts wheel, got closer and closer...but was he strong enough to beat the big Swede?
Khalilov lacks the power to finish it off and so Backstedt wins and takes over the lead!

Still 2 more flat stages before we reach the famous mountain stage...
One of Karpin's leaders, Rabunal, attacks while Ferrara follows him the whole time
However this sprint would turn out to be a crazy one, for some reason a small group with guys like Fumagglia, Reda, Zagorodny and Calcagni gets a small gap and with the sprinter trains in the back these guys smell their chances, Fumagglia however is dead and while Zagorodny leads out Reda it seems to a battle between Reda and Calcagni
However Calcagni storms away, will he surprise the sprinters?
Calcagni takes the surprising win, Reda ends 2nd with Jochen Summer 3rd

The opening of the cycling season in Italy! Lots of riders attack in the early phase of this race and Angeloni is lucky enough to find himself in the break of 14
Break of 14 with Angeloni in it
The breaks works hard and with 10 kms to go, Noe, Angeloni and Tossato have a 15 second lead but with 7 kms to go it seems to come down to a sprint. But then! Simeoni attacks with 2 kilometres to go and gets 8 guys with him, the whole time they have a slim lead and it seems like they;ll succeed in surprising the sprinters! However Simeoni fades while Eltink, Cummings and Rossi are up front when they start sprinting
Cummings up front with Eltink and Rossi behind him!
In the back Flahaut, thanks to Del Nero, is the only sprinter who can mess up either Cummings or Eltink's party. Then Longo from Lampre sprints past Rossi and gets close to Cummings...but Eltink still has some juice left in the tank, is he gonna win?
Eltink wins while Cummings who was obviously worn downs ends 2nd, Longo ends 3rd

Today is the mountain stage, however since the final climb isnt steep at all we could see a big group finishing, however early on a huge group gets away of 21 riders!
21 riders in the break with Atehortua in it for Flaminia!
However there are some others in it like Axelsson, Julich and Millar who are normally better climbers than Atehortua, also on the climb some of the better climbers join the group, guys like Tondo, Sella, Simoni, Goubert and Mosquera just to name a few. Axelsson sees them coming and takes off, Julich tries to follow but fails
Axelsson on his way for yet another Swedish success?
In the back the pack takes it easy and so one of the 26 riders up front will win today, Axelsson slowly cracks and just when he's almost there a Spaniard and a Portugese pass him
Axelsson cracks as Mosquera and Tondo pass him
Which of these 2 Iberians would win?
Mosquera just holds on and wins the stage and likely the tour aswell
Meanwhile Atehortua ends 9th in the back but is only 19th in the overall classification
