It's a very rare event to have a brand new race on the MG calendar, but here we are! We go to Wallonie for a puncher's race, which isn't the hardest but should be a challenge to the peloton nonetheless. We're in uncharted territory, so there's no standard to look at from the past and try to judge how this race might go. As much, we're inclined to put the best punchers as the most likely winners of a race dotted with short steep climbs.

Claeys is the stronger puncher in the field in terms of climbing ability but perhaps Kinoshita is the most suited rider in a race like this. It should be close contest between those two riders for the race win.
In the podium race, one can't look beyond Schreurs, Di Maggio and Izagirre. Di Maggio is the stronger rider but Schreurs makes in energy stats. Izagirre is similar to the latter, with considerably poorer acceleration, which could to be important at the end of a race like this.
Behind the five riders mentioned, it looks to be very close race between a handful of riders who wish to challenge for the Top 5 and the To 10. Borges always has the tendency to over-perform, and so does Gautier. Betancourt and Vogt, on the other hand, are generally prone to under-performances, and will look shake off that reputation. Jensen is an interesting rider to follow and has all the tools to try and break into the Top 5 in this race. Prevar, Waeytens and Flugel haven't produced anything spectacular yet this season, but the latter, especially, has had a career filled with top results, and is still capable of hanging around with the best in a hill.

I know my team too well 
It's because of planning like this that we'll probably be last in the April standings! The only consolation is that this is the only hilly classic that Kelderman does not race for us. So fingers crossed.

We actually scored a good amount of points in a non-Beltran race

Was worried Flugels mountain stat would mean he got dropped before the final climb so pretty happy to see him sprinting for 10th place.
