Game Profile problem

Out of nowhere my game profile is resetted. That means all the settings are changed like graphics, sound, language... And my last save game is not visible in the load game screen. Fortunately I had some back ups!

Does anyone know where the profile settings are saved (in my documents?) or how to fix this?
