Circulo de Juarez

Stage 4: Villa Ahumada - Ciudad Juarez 154.7 km

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/00.jpg

Another flat stage, again with two very easy cat.4 climbs and two point sprints, only difference to what we are getting used to is a more directly downhill last 15 km and a nasty left turn with a little more than 3 km to the finish line.

Again hot and sunny but better than before, 32°C with wind from about 10-20 km/h, close to the finish 21 km/h and maybe enough to split the pack.

Reminder of GC:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/02.jpg

New acceleration pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/yor.png Williams and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cbx.png Van Wyk no success.

Then pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/vip.png Kivumbi, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ros.png Khalilikhosroshani and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/jay.png Othman no success either.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/kaz.png Zhang no success

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/kaz.png Yang was reeled in after another 2 km, everyone takes a breather for 7 km then we get a new rider on the move pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/vip.png Kivumbi the first rider to get more than a minute today.

He will be joined by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/jay.png Harper and again pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/kaz.png Yang.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/04.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/jay.png Harper attacks for the points sprint and takes it, an important move in the U25 competition as he moves into the lead even if he is reeled in, unless other U25 riders gets bonus seconds.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/05.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/kaz.png Yang takes a free KoM as his breakaway companions is not interested, now a clear overnight KoM leader, 6 points ahead of closest rival Uri Martins Sandoval.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/06.jpg

The pack turns up the pressure slowly draining the breakaway lead. From km 60 to 45 pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Filutas, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Scaroni, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Storer, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Al Murawwi, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Mas, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Vermeulen, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Welten, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Diggle, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Piccoli reducing the gap to 31”

Acceleration from the pack it is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ros.png Nieves.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/07.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ros.png Nieves join the leading trio, over the next 10 km the gap is stabilized around 30”, then also pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/mck.png Granigan accelerates from the pack.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/08.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/mck.png Granigan blow new life into the breakaway and the distance grow again, passing the last intermediate sprint, the distance is 1’48

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/mck.png Granigan win the sprint in front of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/jay.png Harper and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ros.png Nieves, 22 km left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/09.jpg

Euskaltel – Elior and GCN ProTeam steep on the gas pedal and the distance drop fast, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Burke, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Al Murawwi and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Batmunkh working very hard and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Ngandamba with the decisive acceleration, the break is over with a little more than 6 km left.

3 km
Heading the peloton into the last 45° left turn Euskaltel – Elior and GCN ProTeam side by side pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser in 5th position, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs right behind him. Also pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett well placed in the mix of GCN riders, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon between the first 20 riders.

The other top 10 GC riders between the next 20, the worst positioned pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Granjel Cabrera and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nvo.png Sobota, both at the pedestrian crossing right after the corner.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/10.jpg

2 km
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Fonseca in the lead with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser clued, at his wheel pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett

At the left side of Moser pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay, but pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs lost two cycling lengths to Bennett, behind him pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon best placed in what we could call the 2nd group of approx. 30 riders with the entire GC top 10.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/11.jpg

1.5 km
Still pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Fonseca with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett side by side with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs have closed the gap to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett

Moving forward from the “pack” pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon side by side, about three cycle lengths behind Mohs, also fast coming forward from the pack pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/12.jpg

First under the red kite pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Fonseca (71 km/h) slightly in front of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay (71 km/h) to his left.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser at the wheel of Fonseca, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett seemingly wanting to overtake Moser has moved slightly left but also him at 71 km/h.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs have taken Moser’s wheel.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon (75 km/h) has closed most of the gap already in the slipstream of those ahead, same goes for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin (75 km/h) although he has lost a meter on Boivin. Also pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev close now and very fast (78 km/t) with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera clued (78 km/h)
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Krieger (79 km/h) with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bnz.png Von Hoff (78 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Voinea (78 km/h) coming forward from the pack, we also see pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Langeveld at the left side at 66 km/h.

Behind them pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Jakobsen (65 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Korzh (77 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cbx.png Suryadi (65 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cdb.png Ranneries (75 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Al Murawwi (64 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/yor.png Rowe (67 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Burke (62 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nvo.png Sobota (72 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/epc.png Carsi (70 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Granjel Cabrera (67 km/h)

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/13.jpg

700 meters
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay (70 km/h) now in front. At his left rear pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Fonseca (55 km/h) done and about to be passed at his right side by teammate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser (63 km/h)

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs still behind Fonseca but moving fast (73 km/h) at his left side pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett (65 km/h)

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon (74 km/h) have found Moser’s slipstream, at his right rear an extremely fast pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev (78 km/h) at his left rear pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin (67 km/h), behind Boev pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera still clued (78 km/h) seems he has found the best wheel today.

Some distance down to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Krieger (79 km/h) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bnz.png Von Hoff (82 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Voinea (79 km/h) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Korzh (82 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Langeveld (68 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cdb.png Ranneries (81 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nvo.png Sobota (80 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/epc.png Carsi (80 km/h), as many of those started sprinting late they are very fast but is it too late?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/14.jpg

600 meters
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay still in front but no longer fast (60 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs (75 km/h) about to pass at McLay’s right, at Mohs right rear pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser (65 km/h), coming up from behind at Moser’s right pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon (74 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev (78 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera still clued (77 km/h)

At Moser’s left rear pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett (67 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Fonseca (49 km/h) and a bit further back pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin (70 km/h)

About 3 cycle lengths down to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Krieger (78 km/h) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bnz.png Von Hoff (80 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Voinea still with 79 km/h that is unbelievable he is on fire. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Korzh (81 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cdb.png Ranneries (82 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bia.png Langeveld (70 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nvo.png Sobota (81 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/epc.png Carsi (82 km/h), another small gap to the next group.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/15.jpg

300 meters
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs now lead with 71 km/h

In 2nd position at the far right we got pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev (72 km/h) almost side by side with (from right to left) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon (71 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser (69 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett (73 km/h)

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera attempting to pass Boev definitely also in the mix for a stage win with 74 km/h, same goes for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin coming up along the left side banner with 73 km/h. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png McLay close to Boivin but at 45 km/h surely out of it.

Still a small gap down to pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Krieger (76 km/h) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bnz.png Von Hoff (76 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Voinea (76 km/h) pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Korzh (78 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/cdb.png Ranneries (79 km/h), pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nvo.png Sobota (76 km/h) and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/epc.png Carsi (81 km/h), but they are fast and closing in.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/16.jpg

100 meters

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/17.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gcn.png Mohs wins the stage to Ciudad Juarez in front of pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/gla.png Bennett

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/18.jpg

In a close fight for the last podium, it is pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ahe.png Canelon 3rd, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/azt.png Vaquera 4th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/eue.png Moser 5th and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/adr.png Boev 6th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Races/C2/Juarez/S4/19.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/nrh.png Boivin 7th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/ptm.png Krieger 8th, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/fox.png Korzh 9th and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2019/Micros/bnz.png Von Hoff rounds of top 10.
