The second year for our unique climbing race. It isn't just one big climb to decide the winner but rather several attempts up the same climb with the repetition being the deciding factor. Don't mistake this smaller climb for an easy ride though as the ascents will add up to a very large amount of uphill riding.
This year's edition is a bit tougher as the steeper side is climbed throughout the stage rather than tackling the more gradual side of last year's edition. The 6th time up will see the finish line near the peak and likely a very exhausted winner. It will be a test of climbing skill and resistance to fatigue in the legs. Finally a burst for the sharp but shorter climb to the finish may be needed to take a lead over all remaining rivals.
While I'm sure some would like to view this as a chance for the puncheurs with the smaller overall climb, the amount of climbing will simply be too much and this will be decided by the climbers.
| | | | | | | | | | | Rider | MO | RS | AC | HL | Rider | MO | RS | AC | HL | Madrazo | 85 | 80 | 72 | 76 | Marquez | 80 | 78 | 80 | 71 | Herklotz | 84 | 80 | 76 | 77 | Guldhammer | 81 | 75 | 76 | 77 | Spilak | 84 | 80 | 73 | 81 | Olivier | 80 | 80 | 71 | 76 | Pluchkin | 85 | 78 | 74 | 75 | Arndt | 79 | 76 | 75 | 76 | Morton | 84 | 78 | 67 | 76 | Abal | 80 | 76 | 72 | 69 | Sicard | 82 | 79 | 70 | 78 | Choi | 80 | 76 | 68 | 74 | Barguil | 81 | 77 | 75 | 75 | Penasa | 80 | 72 | 76 | 74 |
The premier climbers should hold status as the race favorites, especially those with the resistance to do it over and over again. Acceleration and Punch will likely only come into play if there is a small bunch up the final climb. Our top three, Madrazo, Herklotz and Spilak should hold a slight edge over the rest of the field but don't expect Pluchkin or Morton to be far off especially if either has good legs.
Spilak will look to defend his crown, Pluchkin will look to improve on his podium, Madrazo topped my list for favorites, and will certainly expect better than his 5th place last year. Expect a tougher race with a deeper overall field this season as the race works to become a feature in the PTHC season.

Was expecting a much harder startlist tbh. If Marquez can live up to where he's on the favourites table, I'll be very happy!

Beltran not getting a mention here, so I'm hoping we can beat the odds again in PTHC to cause an upset!

Win goal here, and expecting to at least get very close to reaching that. Support for Pluchkin should be more than sufficient too with Padun and maybe Krasnoperov as most important helpers.

Looking for a break or a lucky result here with Trofimov.
Spilak and Herklotz to duel it out between the both of them I guess.
Good luck and thanks for the preview KEntaurus!

We're sending our best team here, but we can only hope for a top 20. That's kinda sad
Wish all my fellow managers a Merry Christmas! |

Not ideal territory for Nerz so any result welcome here.
Thanks for the preview and a Merry Christmas to all.

Our first win goal of the season.
After achieving the MSR goal, we can afford to only get close to it here, but of course we want to ride well so close to home as the top team of the area present here.
It's the first time we ride this, so I hope Herklotz is prepared well enough to figure out how to get rid of most opponents before the line. The finish should suit Spilak even more of course, but there are surely ways to fend off all others and return to the duel of Tirreno.
Obviously we bring all our best climbers, which means Arndt should be able to provide great support until the very end and hopefully challenge for a decent result himself, maybe even in the Top 10.
The rest of the team is encouraged to make the race hard before we get to the final ascent, as I would quite like the long climb to be decisive in some way already to not turn this into a random uphill sprint at the end.
The harder the race, the better for Herklotz.
Merry Christmas!

Had an extra race day for Kinoshita so sent him here. Costagli at best can do a Top 20 so not much hope but if it ends on a sprint I think Kinoshita could have a chance.

This is by far the best climbing lineup ive ever sent to a race. See how we will still not do anything all year long...

We got, what he had to expect, I guess. Solid, anonymous Top-5 for Morton, who just could beat those other guys on a very good day. Will take this result, glad he won the "sprint" from the first group eventually. Had hoped for our second tier climbers to snatch better backup results though.
Herklotz is beatable, congrats to the winner and thanks for the report!

Great effort by Keinath.
Was hoping that one of my strong trio Velits, Olivier, Keinath would join such move plus Zardini.
9th is a good result in this field even though the others could have ended up a bit higher really. |

Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes! Fantastic race by our Evonik huys. Lopez with a super brave race: absolutely no idea where he lost contact to his co-attackers but proved fantastic heart and earns the 15th place while Vosekalns sneeks himself to a 13th place in the most non-Vosekalns way without being seen once all report. Kaspers in 32th and Riesebeek in 45th complete top team result.
Congrats to Croatia! This should be Spilaks race to lose and you know how much i love seeing him win this race for you! <3
Thanks for the report!

Given the field of strong riders here and how aggresisvely the race was raced, I can't really complain with Beltran finishing 8th. If it was raced more conservatively then I think Beltran could use his punch in the end to get higher, but it was clear to see he was just hanging on in the end.
Great to see Spilak win, he was always the favourite here for me
Thanks Kentaurus for the report

Deserved win for Spilak here. Congrats Croatia. Beautiful report also, Kent, thanks for that!
Underwhelming result for us with Trofimov barely hanging on for top50.
