So the final stage, all around Nice, with many more hills for a difference to be made. At the very top, Simone Ponzi has 12 seconds to make up on Romain Sicard. Could be done on the hills, could even come in time bonuses from a reduced group sprint.
We have some surprisingly placed riders high in GC too, like Bibby, Wirtgen, Dennis and Prado. Cna Bakelants, De Bie and Buchmann use the hills to regain the higher places? Are Bobridge, Mohoric and Van Stayen able to improve their race?
And there's the KoM jersey too. 72 points on offer across the stage, with the leader Mosca on 58 - so in theory anybody can take it. Mosca leads Boswell by 8 points, Riesebeek by 14, Phelan by 18 and Gautier by 24.
Attack! Attack! Amezawa opens up the breakaway madness.
There's Boswell!
There's Mosca! And that's Koretzky on his wheel too.
We soon have 21 riders. Boonratanathanakorn, Boswell, Teuns, Castroviejo, Amezawa, Postlberger, Katrasnik, Koretzky, Mosca, Gogl, Tarvis, Madouas, Ariesen, Zakarin, Cavagna, Bayly, Gesbert, Burke, Ghyselinck, Eg and Krigbaum.
But it doesn't stop there. 12 more give it a go: Gautier, McCarthy, Lammertink, Nardin, Svab, Omarsson, Lane, Tizza, Ho, Ganna, Kaislavuo and Weinstein. But they aren't able to make it a super 33.
At 25th and 26th overall, Eg and Boswell are best placed on GC, over 5 minutes down. And the 21 have made it to the first climb of the day, though their gap is less than 50 seconds.
It's not staying 21 for long. Desigual's Burke drives the pace, and we soon see a split. Surprisingly, Mosca is caught out.
Koretzky jumps away for a clear first, but Boswell is through in 2nd. Mosca missed out - so they are now tied on 58!
The break is down to 10, and already Eg is dropped - this might not have been his best move for maintaining his GC placing then.
Koretzky is in the mood for it today, and willing to go from the front. Mosca well placed this time but the Frenchman is just so strong, and cruises to another maximum points.
And Mosca struggles after that. Teuns takes 2nd this time but Boswell is 3rd, and that is the outright lead for the American.
Still the peloton ride, so on the third climb Koretzky opts for a high rhythym rather than another attack, and more of the break are whittled away. In fact, only 3 remain. Teuns takes the points this time, from Tarvis, and Koretzky in 3rd.
Boswell will take 2 points for 5th, his tally now 66.
The peloton are already down to 53 riders. They will recover to a larger amount, but there doesn't look to be a lot of spare energy there amongst the domestiques today.
The fourth climb is the first Cat 1, so more points on offer here. Teuns is first again, the 16 points taking him to 34. Tarvis up to 34, while the 10 takes Koretzky to 42 - he had started the stage with 6 already.
The relaying McKenna lead the peloton over for 8 points, and the Moser rider's regular presence on the front means he too has 34 points now. The gap to the front 3 is 2'30 with all other attackers caught.
Another Cat 1 climb next, and this time Koretzky is back in control. Up to 58 points, that means he is 8 point behind Boswell, with 10 left on the road.
An attack in the peloton too! Albeit it is only Van Niekerk, those 8 points taking him to 40 - with Festina attacking the KoM standings from 2 directions now.
The break's lead is up to 3'30 and surely now one of Koretzky, Tarvis and Teuns will win the stage. Just 13km to go, with the last 3.5km climb - the Col des Quartre Chemins. Koretzky opens up hostilities, but Teuns is the one to take the lead!
He initially has 22 seconds, but Koretzky is fighting back, gap down to 12 with the summit in sight.
And through goes Koretzky! He takes the climb, and the KoM jersey, by the narrowest of margins.
Tarvis looks to be done, and 3rd on the stage is coming his way.
That's because the peloton are now over 4 minutes off the lead, and sadly, not showing any intent to fight for a change in GC placings. Van Niekerk is free for another small attack, and 4 more points. That will put him joint 5th on 44 points, with Teuns making it to 4th on 52, Tarvis 7th on 42.
Oh here we go. No more climbing in the race and this is the time Ponzi decides to attack. Time bonuses out of the question with the break ahead, so he needs a gap, but Sicard is close behind.
The fight for the stage win is Koretzky vs Teuns, and the Frenchman has an opening.
Teuns is not giving up, but it is not looking good for him.
Clement Koretzky salvages his race then, with a superb final stage. The KoM jersey, and a stage win. His GC may have been thrown away, but he will not be leaving empty handed.
2nd for Teuns, 3rd for Tarvis.
Waiting with baited breath for news of Ponzi's attack?
Well don't be, the descent wiped out any hope of the move sticking, and no such aggression followed. Van der Poel, Lane, Schultz and Ji lead the line of the peloton as we close in to the end.
And to sum up the disappointing stage, Van der Poel even manages to take out 4th. Lane is 5th, then come Ponzi, Bakelandts and Dzamastagic, with Koch 9th and Van Stayen 10th - unable to beat Ponzi today, so Ponzi does get the Points jersey from the race.
Sicard is home in 15th to secure Paris - Nice glory. Bibby, Prado and Wirtgen all close together - three unexpected beneficiaries of the surprising racing. A podium for Bibby, 5th overall and the U25 jersey for Wirtgen, are particularly notable.
40 riders together in the peloton at the end. Four riders from the Top 30 were missing: van der Hugenhaben, Eg, Boswell and McCarthy. Teuns was able to rise up to 14th in GC from the breakaway, the highest of four Generali riders in the Top 20. It also takes Generali up to the top of the Team's classification. Koretzky's win fires him all the way up from 73rd to 27th.
And here is, Romain Sicard on the podium. That's Paris - Nice.
