The first mountain stage probably won't be too decisive

Gabrovski, De Greef, Lasri and Sutherland make the break

Sutherland wins both of the early intermediate sprints

Before De Greef presses on without the other 3 as soon as the climb starts

We knew this would be an action packed stage when Mestre, Rojas Diaz and Pinto attacked at the start of the climb.

Mestre was stronger than the other 2 and left them behind as Wiggle and Pearl Jam set to work

Up front, De Greef takes the KoM points - he is looking to take the jersey from race leader Stamsnijder

Rojas Diaz and Pinto are caught as the peleton passed through the points and afterwards theres more attacks - this time from Orozco and Marquez

They catch Mestre but all 3 are caught as Pearl Jam and Wiggle continue to set a tough pace

And on a false flat section, the peleton splits dramatically. Theres around 10 in the front group but Wiggle drop back a bit as Stamsnijder couldnt quite keep up.

Pluchkin was wide awake and contemplates taking advantage

But chooses not to as Pearl Jam take over, as the group largens again

Its not that big though, with only 21 riders in there. Theres no Gatorade riders and Ricardo Mestre is also dropped.

De Greef's advantage up front is decreasing but he takes the full KoM points

Siutsou, Valjavec and Pluchkin all attack at the top.

Pluchkin is keen to work but the other 2 refuse - Siutsou's teammates are even amongst those chasing

They are caught and then 10km later, so is De Greef. As the Molteni rider is caught, Valjavec and Noval go.

Stamsnijder wins again! 3 wins in a row for Wiggle - unbelievable considering the team's low expectations coming into the race.

The Slovene quickly gets up again but will lose 57 seconds.
