So I'm considering getting PCM 08, now normally I wouldn't hesitate, but I have a couple of things to consider.
1. It would be on my Dad's computer, so I would only be able to play it around 2-3 days a week (he travels a lot).
2. Although Track Cycling works fine for me (in the demo, so I assume overall), Road Races are a problem, as the demo only works with 800x600 resolution, rider animations turned down, and everything on zero, and even then it crashs half-way through the race around a half the time. It is possible the performance mod might make it playable all the time, but I am not sure.
So all I am guaranteed is career mode and track mode, with the possibility of the 3D mode, and I'd only (most likely) be able to play a few days a week. So what do people think, is it worth it or not. I must note that the track cycling in the demo is awesome.
P.S.: If I do choose to get the game i'd get the download version, so where would people recommend I get the game from.

I can tell you track is much more fun online when you're actually horsing around with the people you're playing on teamspeak (we let our inner children run amok and behave like 5 year olds is what I'm saying )

I got the download version from Metobli or whatever it's called..
PCM08 is definately worth it. It is up there with PCM06 and I think it's actually better than PCM06, so in my opinion it's th best PCM/CyM made so far.
What are your computer specs (for your crashing problem)?
And indeed track is awesome, I haven't ad a career past February 1st, season 1, yet. But I know for certain that track is awesomeB)
EDIT: and as isso says, teamspeak is good fun, you get to hear peoples stupid accents too

I proabably would play online if I got it.
its a dell, with a 2.2 GHZ processor, an Intel GMA 965 graphics card (I know you said you had one at one point Addy), a gig of ram, and although I don't know for sure I'll eat my hat (I think I may have to buy one first though) if it doesn't have 6 gb's of hard drive space, which I know is the minimum.

Teamspeak somehow makes online play enjoyable. It also kinda made me like Ruben.
That said, just to be picky, an Intel GMA 965 isnt a graphics card, its an graphical chip attached to the motherboard. Did i mention people who use laptops for gaming make me cry?
And you might have trouble playing with only 1 gig of RAM. That is really the borderline and you shouldnt expect to have spectators or forests.

You would have to play online track, offline is incredibley easy I plasyed for the first time offline today since getting it the day it was released, and I won't be playing offline again
your specs don't look too bad, but my laptop seems to be some kind of miracle laptop because there are people with better systems than mine and they can't run the game...

Not my fault, all the desktops in my house are either the one I play 07 with (it only runs that on minumum settings) and Macintosh's.

I understand, which is why the performance mod would be neccesary |

Tip of the day: An used Macintosh can be sold for just enough to afford some more RAM!

I play on my laptop...
I have a Intel 965 Express Family chipset or something and it sounds shit but i play with everything on max settings apart from shaders and AA, so it does me nicely...
With PCM07 I was able to take these screens with it:
https://pcmdaily.com/photogallery.php?...oto_id=876
https://pcmdaily.com/photogallery.php?...oto_id=875
https://pcmdaily.com/photogallery.php?...oto_id=443
https://pcmdaily.com/photogallery.php?...oto_id=442
Not exactly ugly me thinks. I don't have a screen of PCM08 as I haven't played a non-track race in about 2 months...
That said I could play on my desktop PC which has a Nvidia 7600GT, which isn't great but it's a lot better than a shitty Inte intergrated thing but i don't even have PCM installed on it...

Addy, thats not the PCM07 version of Shaders 2.0, per definition kinda ugly then. That said, you'd need an 8-series nVidia card to play with Shaders 2.0 in PCM07.
And ill still cry over laptops.

So, at the end of the day, the verdict on whether or not you think it is worth it is... |

I play on a laptop, and cry myself to sleep every night because it sucks so much. |

Pff I don't really think it's totally worth the purchase.
1. Riders in career mode don't seem to progress at all (in stats).
2. Some cool additions like a boost if the race is ridden in the rider's own country, but nothing really cool.
3. Training system kind of fails in a way... |
