The Colombian NC takes place on a mountainous course, which will please most of the riders! It looks like a PCT battle between Henao and Uran, who have got to know each other pretty well this year! Uran the better "time trial climber" over longer efforts, but Henao has a slightly bgiger punch. Henao has a big advantage in his lieutenant Pantano too. Quintana, Beltran and Suaza will be looking to spoil the party - the latter has two great lieutenants in Atapuma and Sebastian Henao (cousin of). This should be one of the most exciting events in this year's national championships!
As the breakaway of amateurs is caught on the final climb it's Beltran who attacks early and hard, catching his rivals by surprise! 8.2km to go and no other climbers on the front to respond - he's not a top favourite and so he's gone on the front foot to surprise them!
There's a while of everybody riding tempo which results in Quintana dragging Chamorro clear with him, as Beltran sets off in pursuit with Orozco and Uran for company - Suaza and Henao being left behind here!
Henao eventually bridges across with Suaza in tow, but Uran isn't in the mood to ride with Henao and attacks around the leading duo before the Philips man can reach his wheel! A group of seven here but it looks like Orozco is on the way out one end, and Uran the other!
Uran putting the hurt on here, Henao can't follow as he's just bridged across, Beltran can't as he's done too much work, only Chamorro can but he's in great difficulty as the Minions rider forges on! A gritty ride from the Festina man who sticks with Uran still!
Orozco well and truly dropped here as with 3km to go Chamorro still hangs in there behind Uran, fantastic fighting spirit from the Festina rider. Henao still suffering but he's recovered enough to begin closing the gap all by himself, with the others just hanging onto him much as Chamorro is doing to Uran!
Henao bridges across alone but he's still got to come around Chamorro, who is beginning to leave a gap to Uran!
A great ride from Uran here, staying within himself and grinding Chamorro off his wheel, Henao comes around but it's too late, he's missed the slipstream! Just outside the flamme rouge and it will take something special from Henao to get across! Meanwhile Suaza has caught up to the two chasers.
A great performance from Uran who has time enough to soak in this fabulous victory in style. Fantastic ride, making use of the poor positioning of his main rivals and patiently riding Chamorro off his wheel!
Henao pips Suaza to the line 30 seconds behind, whilst a very impressive Chamorro comes home in fourth. A fun race here today in Colombia!
Sorry no export Quintana-Beltran-Orozco-Pantano-Chaves is all I remember.
Defending champion Uran is by far Colombia's best time triallist and it would be a real shock were someone else to take it. Though his closest rivals, Quintana, Henao and Suaza, may have a little extra motivation after being beaten soundly by the Minions man in yesterday's road race!
Sergio Henao first off among the favourites, and sets a time of 1h11'31.
He's quickly beaten by Quintana with a time of 1h10'34!
Suaza is the last rider before Uran and as he overtakes Quintanawill be the winner if somehow the Minions rider needs two bike swaps and a defibrilator en route.
He doesn't, and wins in a time of 1h10'01. A double champion and a well deserved one here in Colombia, well done Rigoberto Uran!
