Libyan National Road Race Championship

Three amateurs form the breakaway and are still leading in the final lap. Four kilometer to go, the gap is seventeen seconds. Oberfranken working all day for Elkamaa.

Elkamaa starts his sprint very early, at two kilometer to go, but this gives him a head start over Belgasem. The break still needs to be caught though.

The early start hurts Elkamaa as Belgasem is past him under the flag. The breakaway's lead has shrunk considerably.

Belgasem passes them out of the final turn. Elkamaa follows but doesn't seem to have the energy to get past.

Elkamaa at the halfway point, knowing he was leading Belgasem at the first checkpoint by eleven seconds.

Belgasem did not accelerate, he's now twenty-one seconds behind. That's not something that could easily be closed.

At the finish line the gap would only increase to 39. Both riders take a jersey out of the national championships.
