Samoan/Sanmarinese/South Korean National Championships

Samoan National Road Race Championship
Sanmarinese National Road Race Championship
South Korean National Road Race Championship

Samoa, San Marino and South Korea were forced to host their flat national championships together due to budget cuts. However, with the travel cost I don't think that worked out too well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_epc.png Afoa and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Young battle for the Samoan Championship.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vlv.png Maccagli, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_spr.png Olei and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Scarponi the three riders from San Marino.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Jang, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_phc.png Jung and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_zal.png Min are the contenders in the South Korean Championship.

Last portion of the break caught with two laps to go. SPAR and Volvo build the sprinting trains.

Helicopter overview of the sprint trains which look quite disorganized given the language barriers. All professionals in the first fifteen positions.

SPAR amateur leading out Jang. Olei coming round the outside, turning into the inside. Afoa and Young alongside each other.

Three riders emerge out of the final corner in the lead: Young, Jang and Olei. They seem to have their respective NCs in the pocket, but the combined win is nice as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Gyung Gu Jang wins the race and the South Korean Championship! pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Darren Young wins the Samoan Championship, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_spr.png Federico Olei the Sanmarinese Championship!

No star time trialists amongst the eight participants. South Korea possibly the closest, the other two have stand-out favorites.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_phc.png Jung finishes in 1h14'02, let's compare that to his Korean rivals.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/NC/MF2/TT/02.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Jang nine seconds slower at split one, three second ahead at split two, four seconds behind at split three. At the finish line it turns back into nine seconds ahead. One of them was very inconsistent today.

Something pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_zal.png Min fails to take advantage off, losing a minute to the both of them. Jang wins the TT and the RR.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/NC/MF2/TT/04.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vlv.png Maccagli easily the fastest from San Marino, nearly three minutes faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Scarponi and also fastest overall.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/NC/MF2/TT/05.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Young falls seven seconds short of Maccagli's time, but is much faster than pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_epc.png Afoa. He also takes the double.

Samoan Champion: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_p4e.png Darren Young.

Sanmarinese Champion: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vlv.png Andrea Enrico Maccagli.

South Korean Champion: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ssc.png Gyung Gu Jang.
