A race on cobblestones here in Malaysia. Two riders stand out from the bunch: Marzuki from SPAR and Ghani, riding for EA Vesuvio on loan from Sauber.
Marzuki attacks just before heading on the final cobblestone sector. The group was already reduced to twenty riders. Two amateurs still leading the race but they are likely to be caught.
Marzuki passes the breakaway. Ghani is chasing after him solo, the other riders have to fear for the time limit.
Ghani makes it to Marzuki's back wheel. Not long after Marzuki stares at his back wheel, and steadily Ghani rides away from his competitor.
Ghani leaves the cobble sector and no sign of Marzuki yet.
Muhammad Suhaimi Ghani wins the Malaysian National Championship! Marzuki finishes second at 1'37. Anuar Aziz the only other rider to finish the race, coming in third at 7'33.
The riders trade the cobblestones for asphalt in the time trial event.
Sometimes one picture is enough to describe the entire race. Ahmad Zamri passes Marzuki in the final corner, he started four minutes in front of him. Ghani was overtaken earlier today. The fact that these two end up on the podium with Zamri is a good indication of the quality in this field.
No disrepect to Muhamma Afif Ahmad Zamri though, the deserved Malaysian Time Trial Champion!
