There is no Swedish cobblestone star, yet the organizers decide to race their national championships on some rough roads. Anyone can win.
One local amateur had hopes of surprising the pack but he's caught by a group of four riders on the final section: Andersson, Dahlberg, Ahlstrand and Anderberg. A split occurred after these riders, so the others are out of contention most likely.
The amateur is the first to drop off, and then the group splits into two with ten kilometer to go. Andersson and Dahlberg put distance into Anderberg and most importantly Ahlstrand, who will probably beat them in the sprint on only one leg.
And Andersson rides away from Dahlberg towards the end of the cobble section.
Lars Andersson from the amateur team Risa - Ergon wins the Swedish Championship. He's the best cobblestone rider of the country.
Dahlberg holds off Ahlstrand for second place, the latter came real close in the final kilometers. Anderberg fourth and caught by Lindgren who would finish fifth.
Reigning champion Johansson has chosen not to defend his title, thus we'll see a new Swedish Champion in the time trial discipline.
Wetterhall the first starter and also one of the favorites. 1h10'28 is the time to beat.
And it's beaten by teammate Lövkvist.
Bjelmark slots in behind the both of them in a very disappointing ride.
Tobias Ludvigsson is twenty seconds down at the halfway mark. He comes back a little bit in the second half but it's not enough, twelve seconds for second place and a virtual Volvo 1-2-3.
Lindgren six seconds slower at check one, ten seconds slower at check two. Then he puts the hammer down, only one second behind at check three and pulls it around to five seconds faster at the finish. New leader!
Except he's probably briefed about Renäng's split times, and he should know he was already over a minute faster at the third checkpoint. At the finish it's 1'45 and a deserved victory.
Viktor Renäng takes the Swedish Time Trial Championship as amateur.
