The gap at the top of Highwood Pass is 3'30. Partridge takes the ten points, ahead of eight for Mendes, six for Zaini, four for Walsleben and two for Wallays.

Shortly after this climbs follows category three Kent South Peak, which Mendes wins ahead of Zaini and Wallays. This makes Mendes the virtual KoM leader, with ten points still available at the finish line. The gap with 90 kilometers to go is 3 minutes, whereas Kulczyk has joined in the chase.

The breakaway is caught at twelve kilometers before the line, three kilometers away from the foot of the climb. The entire field is still together, but that might change when Azteca starts to make a train on the climb.

Despite the team effort the group remains large, with only a small amount of riders dropped. The director looks for Meyer, where is he? The slow pace on the climb meant he could stay in the lead pack for a very long time, and would finish in 39th place, which is a very good result for a sprinter. On top of that, he only lost 35 seconds to Yates, so he remains GC leader with ease!
