GP Yekaterinburg
Hi everyone and welcome to Russia for another exciting classic on the CT calendar. Today is the time for the puncheurs to excel, as we're racing a 213-kilometer hilly circuit race around Yekaterinburg!
The profile speaks for itself: A hard hill has to be climbed nine times. Between that, a flat part with some tiny hills in it. Stamina should certainly play a role if the peloton has a high pace.
What's also interesting about this race is that it clashes with the C1 race Milano-Torino. Which means that managers had to make a tough decision: Go for the easier race with less competition but less points, or for the harder Milano-Tirino in the hope of getting more points in a stronger field?
A quick look at the favourites shows that three managers with top puncheurs decided to spend their puncheurs' race days here: Gautier, Zaini and Di Maggio. And of those three, it's a battle between Gautier and Di Maggio for the status as top favourite. Gautier is easily the most well-balanced of the two, and should benefit from a better stamina and acceleration as well as a flat stat, which may be influential as there are a few flat parts in this race. Di Maggio is the better pure puncheur, and needs to gain time and energy to Gautier on the hills. Zaini is a worse version of Di Maggio, but should have what it takes to finish top 3 here, too.
And I'm saying that because of the huge gap to the fourth best puncheur on the list is actually from the PCT: Gougeard! It only shows how much of a gap the former three riders have to the rest. Apart from him Hategeka is the best puncheur, though Vichot, Kadri, Othman and Pibernik have better substats than him and should all be fighting for the fourth spot, or even better if one of the favourites crumble.
After that the field gets incredibly close with a mix of CT subleaders and PCT riders who all decided to benefit from the weaker field to get some extra points for their team. Generali in fact have five riders on this list! Silva looks the most promising for them, though Hermans is dangerous with his flat stat, too.
Last but not least some names on this list that certainly deserve to be mentioned, but it's hard to imagine them battling it out for victory: Seibeb, Kebede, Gunman, Anderson and Michely.

Hopefully Pibernik, Othman and Seibeb can finally work together and produce a good result. This becomes a rather big race for us with the absence of some of the other puncheurs.

Anderson or Gaspar to produce a magic trick here. Seems very unlikely due to the presence of the top CT puncheurs.

Gunman could definitely get himself a nice result. Same with Aasvold and Campero potentially.
Good luck to everyone!

Wouldn't normally trust Kadri and Vichot in a uphill finish, but with the split field, maybe we can achieve a top 5. Gautier to win this one, though.

4th is not quite the magic trick that's needed to avoid relegation but I will take it! Also good aggressive racing all around.
Congrats to the winner and thanks for the report!

Hoped for one rider top 5, and got two top 3, can't complain about that
One of Vichot's best performances this season, so that's nice to see, and Kadri continues to impress! Also very important for the division title fight that we didn't let Valio run away here.

What a ride!
Rides like this is why I love Gautier and sometimes (when it fails) curses him to a distant universe.
