I quick sim all the time and wondering if anyone has any tips on how to set orders to get the most from this way of playing. If i want to attack should i tick attack boxes/set to free element. What should i do if i want to get mountain points. I know this is obvious from boxes i can select but i always wonder if by checking or leaving unchecked i can get most out of riders. Or should i leave it to the presets the computer chooses based on my team selection?
Thanks, i had looked at that but i have no idea how to edit the XML files, i found them but that is as far as i was able to go. Wondering more abpout the strategy and what i works and doesnt with that.
You probably don't want to edit them, but you might gleam some understanding of how the simulation works - speaking French would probably help, I don't so I don't understand much.
Otherwise you might have to run a trial yourself, I don't think anybody's done it yet for simulations. Make a copy of your save game, simulate, note the results (for example, KOM points that day usually tell you who was in a breakaway). Exit the game, replace the savegame with your copy, load, simulate again... do that 10x or 20x over (there're definitely a lot of random variables in the simulation xmls). Then change tactics, do it all over again and see if you spot any differences. A lot of work which might not yield any noticable results, I fear.
Personally I have no idea how to set the roles in the pre-race strategy system. I would love to be able to easily set the Leader and Free Roles. It seems like you can just drag and drop players up or down the list, but I've never figured out how to actually work it.
For example, for Tour of Austria, my nominal leader is consistently on -5 form and in about 35th place. While another rider has ghosted into 1st place by not missing any splits in the first 5 stages. I can't figure out how to set him as leader.

You can slide leader to the rider you wish to become a leader, and then he becomes one. Also, you can click on the most-left icon (like green cycle for a sprinter) to change his role
