Hi!
As the title suggests, I'm running into an issue where there are 20-30+ riders that are 80+ in sprint, and the same amount which are 80+ in mountains (even when using the PCMDailyDB) after about 4 years in my pro rider career. Is there any way I can change this, so it's a bit more realistic?

You could just edit your game .cdb file with Lachis Editor, |

How would I go about doing that, and what exactly would I be changing? I've never done any kind of .cdb editing myself.

1. Download an editor - in the PCM 18 download section. If you are comfortable with the excel I would suggest the excel editor. Otherwise the fast editor works too.
2. Install/run the editor per the instructions
3. Open your save game in the editor (suggest saving under a new name and then editing that so you don't lose the original if something goes wrong)
4. Open the cyclists table (DYN_Cyclist)
5. You will see the stat columns, just edit them as you wish. Save and rebuild the database. I think this is pretty self-explanatory in the editors but if you run into trouble post another message. |

First of all, thank you a lot for the help! I do still have a problem, though. Doing what you suggested would fix my issue short term, but in 3-4+ years time, the same problem will emerge, and I will have to do it all over. I was hoping there might be an option to decrease the number or riders with "Grand Champion" potential, assuming AI rider potential works the same way that Pro Cyclist riders' do.

A good point. A couple of ideas:
1. I believe when you edit a save game you will see two columns for each stat, the vlaue and a "limit". I think the limit controls the max development of a stat so lowering those should keep them down but been a long time since I looked at that.
2. Each rider has a potential, that controls ultimate values (from 1 to 7). When starting a new game lowering that should lower ultimate stat values. Although I am not sure how that works within a save game with already developed riders.
Neither of these will prevent new riders added from being over-powered without more editing. You would have to go in annually and lower potentials of newly added riders. There are some threads on modifying progression within the game on this site but not sure if it is clear anywhere how that works in 2018. There used to be a factor you could adjust in the setting but that is gone in more recent versions. |

Someplace in the game folder there should be an XML folder called RiderCarac. In there is XML's for generation of young riders for every skillset. I'm not exactly sure what is really important in it, but if you change the values in the first section, new riders will generate with lower skills form the start. So you'll edit the ages 18-21 to have maximum spawning stats as you like. However this doesn't control how many riders is generated with potential 7-8

I wouldn't worry about the sprinters. They can't win much and it's good there's a lot of competition, leads to realistic results. Similarly, when it comes to climbers, I think the biggest problem is when there are just one or two who are clearly better than the rest. They win all the time.
That's the only time I use an editor to make a correction. 20 riders with MON 80+ is fine, but one rider with MON 85 when everybody else has MON 82 at best can become boring fast.
