On wednesday we had the warmup at De Panne, today we continue with the E3. Sunday we'll have Gent - Wevelgem and then next week it's Dwars Door Vlaanderen before we get the real treats.
De Panne was a sprint because of the good weather. More good weather today, but the extra hills should make up for the lack of wind.
Taaienberg coming up, waiting for Boonen to attack.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Excellent race with Quick Step playing the extra rider again. What a season Stybar is having.

GVA what a frustration...he should better anticipate attacks. He waste lot of energy not immediately jumping on wheels.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

The question is which races are Gilbert and Lampaert gonna win next week. Oh and Hirschi, what a great ride, a versatile rider on the works. |

I always knew Bob had it in him as he won Paris-Roubaix espoirs but this is beyond any expectations! Insane form |

It's the same old story with GVA spends all his time missing important moves then does most of the work to correct things and uses up too much energy. His problem is that he wants to win these races so much, that he at times throws being sensible out of the window.
Jungels looking the part but will be marked heavily if he goes in any break or attack now. But he is a member of the strongest team that played it perfectly in terms of tactics today. In every leading group they had at least one rider, so any following riders could save energy by not taking turns and you certainly can't let a rider like Stybar rest up. For anybody to win they really need to stop Quick Step once again but easier said than done.
Also Sky seemed non existent today.
Once again Vanmarcke with the luck of the dead and crashed out, is he out of the rest of the cobbled classics?

Vanmarcke won't start in Wevelgem, but hopes to recover in time for Ronde. Let's hope he does, as Sep + Bettiol + Langevelt could be the only combo to fight against Quick Step.

Jungels is a hero, great ride for himself, then staying out front for Stybar, then in the last few kilometres, and then leading out the sprint and putting GVA on the front at the perfect time, enough that Stybar would come around
24/02/21 - kandesbunzler said “I don't drink famous people."
15/08/22 - SotD said "Your [jandal's] humour is overrated"
11/06/24 - knockout said "Winning is fine I guess. Truth be told this felt completely unimportant."

Great action in Gent - Wevelgem with the wind. But only one question matters, Wout or Mathieu for the win?

Watched the highlights, good race. Kristoff with a very strong sprint, but a fail from Quick Step - Viviani got blocked by Mohoric, I'm assuming? Nevertheless, should make the upcoming races more unpredictable, lots of riders with appetite to win. |

One I've not seen before - the breakaway (previously 2.5 minutes up the road) in DDV appears at the back of the peloton after the peloton is held to accommodate a complication with the overlapping women's race - fun and games with the complicated routes you often see in Belgium.
Going to be fun to sort this one out and restore time gaps

That`s a big mess. All in one big bunch being neutralized and then without a lot of organization sending the former break into the lead again and forgetting to tell them all, so Poestlberger was forgotten...at least he got a nice lift by a jury motobike to catch them again.
Really some weird things happening on such level here. |

Yeah, Postlberger was in the break but got held up getting back through the peloton, eventually given a bizarre tow plus a quick interview by the TV bike!
Race directors car couldn't get back through the bunch too, with the road being so narrow...

60k out and Van der Poel on the move. Linking up with a teammate who jumped a few minutes before with a group of 5 coming together chasing the break but then VdP pushing them on towards the breakaway.
Could be interesting.

In defence of the race organisation:
- Ambulances should always have prtiority
- They've really been helping women's cycling by putting races on the same day as the men's race.

Yes, but why are there 2 Niki Terpstras in the front group? Wasn't he sold to Direct Energie?

Good win for VdP, reward for some attacking riding from 60km out.
