I've always wondered what a stage race would be like if it involved some of the classics and other tough stages - and find out who is the best combined rider. So it is time to find out - but just racing it might be a bit boring, so Ill make it more interesting for everyone else too.
There are 18 team spots available for the race. If you want one of them, you just have to select a team from Dankan's Real Name database, and pick 9 riders from them. You might want to go for overall glory, or just target certain stages. You do not have to pick a ProTour team, you may feel that a team such as Garmin, or Barloworld are better suited to the route.
Once 18 people have posted their team and line up, I will also choose a team and then race the stage race in the control of some rubbish continental team.
You cant reserve a team and say youll do their rider list later, this will work on a first come, first serve basis.
Teams list:
CSC - Levi4life
Caisse d'Epargne - Dankan
Columbia - helGn
Astana - snoep_de_hond
Quick Step - A_Schleck
Francaise des Jeux - rontgen
Silence - matt493
Garmin-Chipotle - Addy291
Rabobank - Alesle
Euskaltel - mb2612
Saunier Duval - schleck93
Gerolsteiner - Immortal
Barloworld - willbushby
Lampre - Smoothie
Cofidis - dave92
LPR - Waghlon
Liquigas - MayMaggot
Ag2r - stevenag
CSF - Crommy
Last but not least, here is the route:

I call CSC!
My team:
Carlos Sastre
Andy Schleck
Frank Schleck
Fabian Cancellara
Jens Voigt
Stuart O'Grady
Bobby Julich
Karsten Kroon
Jason McCartney
I would have picked BMC but that would be seen as a bit rediculous

Oeps double post.
Well a chance to say I like your idea. Although the 'best' combined rider also needs the have a good team, but that's what I like about cycling. So this will be interesting.

Like I said in the main post, you cant reserve a team like that. If someone comes and says they want Astana and posts their rider choices before you, then Astana is theirs

I have two commends on the route.
First of all I like your picks except La Flèche Wallonne. I think Amstel or LBL would be more difficult and more interesting. And I'm missing RvV. Perhaps two cobbled race would be a bit much, but it will be very interesting to see how the climbers will hold up.
And if you ask me to name the 4 most important classic races it would be LBL, RvV, PR and Lombardy.
My second commend is the order. Perhaps it's interesting to start with a prologue (also because there is no flat ITT), then a hilly classic or something before going into the mountains stages. And the TTT could be stage 3 or 4. I would like to see the mountain TT more towards the end. But I like the last two stages (PR and then the Champs-Élysées). |

That's clear
I know it's your race and I don't have a problem with it if it stays the way it is. I just couldn't resist commenting on it.
But that means that you also like PR more then RvV?? |
