Tour d'Andorra - Stage 4
Vien
Tour of Andorra – Stage 4

Welcome to the fourth stage of the Tour d'Andorra! Today's menu features a 14-kilometre time trial. Uphill, of course! All riders will have to ride the “Els Cortals d'Encamp” against the clock. A pure test of strength for all CT climbers.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Suaza is still in the GC lead after yesterday's stage, in which pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Anacona moved up to second thanks to a great stage win. All other climbers will look to close the gap with them, and give themselves a position that makes them able to take the crown after tomorrow's final stage.

Due to all favourites also being the leaders in the GC, the Andorran broadcast team has only decided to show the final 20 riders live. However, before we head over to that, a small recap of how the other riders in this race fared:

And we can see that pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Pereyra has the fastest time so far, just three seconds over pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_epc.png Hoem and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ofr.png Diaz.

Therefore, his time of 39'56 will be the one to beat.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0071.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Stancu then the first rider to finish since the start of the live broadcast. He beats his teammate Pereyra's time and sets a new best time of 39'42!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0072.jpg

Behind him, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_teb.png De Marchi is struggling quite a bit and almost gets swallowed by pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ccr.png Grmay.

+1'31 for De Marchi, while Grmay finishes 7th so far with +32.. Seems it was more like De Marchi having a bad day than Grmay having a good one.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0073.jpg

Yesterday's most agressive rider pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Parra Bustamente seems to be quite tired from yesterday and finishes 41 seconds behind Stancu.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0074.jpg

His teammate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Rodrigues performs better though, second place with +'13!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0075.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ccr.png Costagli has ridden an anoymous Tour d'Andorra so far, and this day won't change much. +'52, meaning he'll likely drop even further in the GC.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0076.jpg

Suaza's lieutenent pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Atapuma seems to either be dead from all the work he's done so far, or decides to save his energy for tomorrow. +'52.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0077.jpg

Good old pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_sct.png Brajkovic does a lot better, though he doesn't get to reach Stancu. +'7 for him and the second time so far.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0078.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_emo.png Pomoshnikov has been mentioned as a favourite time and time again, but hasn't proven he's able to perform yet. And today is no exception. +'25, not to a favourite's standard.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0079.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_api.png Kiserlovski is having a bad tour so far, and looks greedy to make up for it.

And he does, at least a little bit. Because we now have a new provisional best time of 39'39! That's two seconds on Stancu.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0080.jpg

Up to GC's 10th place now, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_esc.png Medvedev. The Russian had a poor day yesterday, so let's hope for his team that he isn't on a downward trend.

He isn't, third so far with +'10! What a relief! Though sadly, the broadcast seems to have missed him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_csd.png Cataldo has also been one of the riders to sneakily get himself into the top 10, and that trend will likely continue. 7th with +'19 for him.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0081.jpg

And as you can see on the last pic, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ofr.png Ratiy seems to have come quite close to him! Are we looking at a new best time now?

Yes! 39'30. Will this time stand?

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0082.jpg

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ada.png Panayotov has been inconsistant so far, and today is no exception. Only 13th, 41 seconds behind leader Ratiy.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0083.jpg

Speaking of inconsistent, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vad.png König has been on a little bit of an upward trend, at least GC-wise, but today is a bad day for him again, +'47.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0084.jpg

Behind them, we can see something special: pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gcn.png Pinot has passed pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_teb.png Hacecký on the finish line! This means either Pinot had a great day, or Hacecký had a bad day. And we can only see its implications when we look at the times:

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gcn.png Pinot: 1st, 39'05
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_teb.png Hacecký: 23rd, +1'24

Well, a bit of both, really! Pinot smashes Ratiy's time by 25 seconds and is showing himself as a potential GC winner after all!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0085.jpg

Off to the top 3 then. pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnz.png Campero is looking to add another great result to his already great Tour so far. Can he hold on?

Meh.. 7th, +49. He likely won't drop that much, though we'll have to interview his manager after the race to know if he's satisfied with this.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0086.jpg

And then we should be waiting for pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Anacona, right? Well, no! He can't be spotted from the finish line yet, but race leader pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Suaza can, as he's been passed! Though once again, we're yet to see if Suaza had a great day, or Anacona a bad one...

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Suaza: 2nd, +'15
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Anacona: 43rd, 1'55

Ouch. This time it's clearly Anacona who had a bad day. We'll see how much this affects his GC soon.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0087.jpg

So first of all, this means pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gcn.png Pinot is the winner of this mountain TT! Congratulations!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0088.jpg

Though #2 pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Suaza can be pleased with this result, too. With pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png Anacona dropping and anyone except Pinot not closing in on him, he had quite a comfortable lead for the final stage. Pinot moves up to second, ahead of Campero and Anacona. It looks like the final GC winner will be one of these four, as the gap to #5 pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vad.png König is already three minutes.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Andorra/4/PCM0089.jpg

And that was stage 4 of the Tour d'Andorra! Join us in 24 hours to follow the final, queen stage of this year's Tour. See ya!
