Stage 2 - Porto-Vecchio The short timetrial is about to begin and we have heavy crosswinds up to 70kmh today! Top favorites for the stage should be Ford, Sergent, Cornu and Keough - with a few more possible contenders and also Ãšran or Shikai as the best GC favorites amongst the better prologue specialists. Tleubayev as one of the better prologue riders amongst the sprinters and his 2nd place yesterday already gave him bonifications.

Sergent as one of the favorites to take the stage and he sets an early best time:

11'29" to finish clearly faster than some other, less strong TT specialists

Novak as one of the best prologue riders amongst the climbers and minor GC contenders. He's strong at the split, on the same time as Sergent actually:

+ 6" as new provisional 4th at the finish! A good performance..

Cheung as another pure TT specialist doing fine at the split with just two seconds off Sergent's time:

2nd at the finish, less than second slower than Sergent! Oh, what a narrow miss on the best time!

Duarte as the last GC favorite on the road today and he's super fast on the first sector, as he equals the time of Sergent:

best time at the finish! And how fast he rode the second sector: 6 seconds ahead of Sergent!

Keough as a specialist for such a short timetrial and he's just one second of Duarte/Sergent at the split:

+ 3" at the finish as 2nd behind Duarte!

Vingerling an unlucky 4th yesterday, but amongst the better prologue riders anyway:

+ 14" as provisional 9th at the finish..

Krieger + 1'16" and hopeless to defend anything of his podium spot..

Tleubayev almost catches him on the short parcours and he's damn fast at the split as 7th with just two seconds lost on Duarte/Sergent! Given his 12-seconds advantage on all those riders prior to the stage, he may be a real threat for the GC lead today:

+ 7" on Duarte as a very strong 5th at the finish!

Van der Sande + 54" to lose the GC lead as to be expected..

Duarte celebrates a kinda huge stage-win first! The defending race champion obviously well prepared to repeat last year's victory, where he was the first Corsica International GC winner to NOT win a stage. Well, now he surprisingly took the timetrial and wins a stage here. Fantastic performance and definitely a promising position against all those other GC contenders!

Tleubayev though moves up to 1st in the GC (and 1st in Points) and he's as happy as Duarte, obviously! A huge result for him today and thanks to his outstanding result yesterday, he keeps collecting some big points for Festina and adds a leader shirt as well. This will be gone tomorrow, if things go as they should, but he's in quite a promising position to get something out of the points classification, too!
