Tour of Turkey - Stage 4
roturn
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0198.jpg

The hills basically are over but the two remaining sprint stages are more difficult as the opener. Today with a late Cat.2 and then the downhill and flat section towards the finish could also favour a late attack and might be enough to see sprinters struggle.

That said the favourite list showsa good amount of fast men that prefer the hilly sprints such as former GC leader pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Kadri or team mate pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Favilli.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_epc.png Modolo, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ofr.png Geschke and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Kreder must be named with their palmares and also pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_spr.png Reza or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_spr.png Weiss might enjoy themselves on that stage.

Other than that pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnz.png Von Hoff, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_rot.png Coutinho, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bdb.png King or pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vad.png Liepins are neither pan flat sprinters only.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0200.jpg

I mentioned it in the preview already but nice to see one rider indeed goes for todays stage indeed then.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Vichot is the best descender next to Kadri and while I expected him to potentially attack late, he goes for the early stage break, which aims the same goal though: The Stage Win! This obviously will make chasing more difficult with Delvaux no longer interested.
With him 6 more riders:
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ada.png Schlegel
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_csd.png Yamamoto
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnz.png Baterdene
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_sct.png Oliveira
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_cpl.png Velits
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gcn.png Minoungou

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0213.jpg

No big KoM expected today and Puusepp in especially had no go from his team due to being in the early chasing for race leader Teuns!
Other teams involved are the always working ENI-MOL as also Rothaus with most riders actually and one rider for Equinor as well.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0217.jpg

Quick jump to the final climb, where the first time something happened.
Vichot has highered the pace and many riders dropped and only Schlegel and Oliveira with him.
Then already more than 1min to the next.

The peloton at 1'40 with 15km to go and this will be difficult as Vichot is a great descender.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0222.jpg

And he shows it impressively. Oliveira actually looked bad already at the top and was quickly dropped. But now also Schlegel is struggling to keep the pace of the Delvaux rider.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0224.jpg

The peloton is still giving it all but with 3,7k to go for them they might still catch Schlegel just ahead but Vichot still having 1min!

And also no organization with too many riders missing for the sprint trains in late positions or already dropped!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_rot.png Coutinho as best placed sprinter in ~10th position but only with Minnard next to him, who chased a lot.
pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Kreder, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_epc.png Modolo, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_vad.png Liepins, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_gcn.png Opie, pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_ofr.png Geschke and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_bnz.png Von Hoff behind him with pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_teb.png Sonnery and pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Favilli on the other side as well just like pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Micro/mg18_del.png Kadri.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0236.jpg

The peloton is still 900m behind Vichot and hence might not catch him but they start their sprint to give it a try at least or fight for 2nd only.

Coutinho without any support basically leading out the rest. Kreder, Modolo, Liepins in the perfect position!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0239.jpg

Vichot though can already celebrate. 2nd stage win for Delvaux here and they used the advantage on that stage in perfection as they basically had 3-4 riders to win that stage.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2018/Races/C2HC/Turkey/mg18_turkey_04_PCM0241.jpg

Modolo coming in 2nd likely a bit annoyed by the lack of support he got today as it could have been a perfect stage for him.
Kreder in 3rd completes a nice Delvaux result.

And actually Kadri with a late jump also up to 4th making it the 3rd Delvaux rider already!

Lasca with a strong sprint as well to 5th ahead of Cortes and Pibernik.
Feillu as 9th with another Delvaux result behind Von Hoff and ahead of Teuns.

Favilli "only" 15th but it wasn`t his stage to go for in the team hierarchy while Coutinho dropped back to 23rd even and also Geschke underperformed as 25th clearly.
