Last stage is a just 10 km long stage, and with a gap of 43 seconds to everyone else, Anza might have a chance of taking the overall win. Otherwise, it may be Ignatiev who's 1'05 behind -- time will tell.
Lang was the first stage favourite to put a mark on this stage as he managed to take the best time and beat Barth off the 1st spot. Bonnet later managed to cut off 1 second of Lang's time, but in the overall picture, it didn't matter at all. We want to know if the favourites can beat Anza
Savoldelli was the first 'favourite' to start, but with a time of 10'1 it didn't look too promising. Abal did slightly better with 10'0, but as you can see, it's still very close and probably not enough to beat Anza.
On came Kai Reus and with a time of 9'55 he showed great qualities. Cornu did even better shortly after by doing a time of 9'50. Millar, who with his usual good time trials could be a race contender, disappointed with a time of 9'55.
Meanwhile, several former 'GC hopes' came in. Danielson, Leipheimer, Vinokourov, etc., none of them really able to show anything. Michael Rogers was the exception, though, as he came in 9'46, 4 seconds better than Cornu.
Minutes later, Fothen did the same time as Rogers and thereby also entered the fight the overall win. But of course, we also had Zabriskie to worry about - and Ignatiev. And with a new best intermediate time for Zabriskie he definitely showed he was here to win. And with a new best time of 9'37, 9 seconds better than Rogers and Fothen, he was now alone in front.
Ignatiev came in shortly after, but only managed a time of 9'55, meaning that Zabriskie had now pretty much secured himself yet another stage win. But what about the overall?
The intermediate sprint didn't really give me any answers as it only shows the best 60 riders - and Anza wasn't one of them. But the worst of the 60, Taylor Phinney, had a time of 3'52, 12 seconds worse than Anza - on the intermediate check. But no matter what, we won't know the results of this until after the race.
Anyhow .. Zabriskie won the stage. 100 % sure. Schleck, Anza, Sanchez, etc. didn't stand a chance against Zabriskie's fantastic time.
