Attack/Follow button not always available?

Hi
I'm pretty new to PCM, but I think I've gotten the hang of things except for a few things. Especially one that is bothering me a lot...
And I've searched through the manual and several forums for this, but nothing.
I'm finding myself more often not able to use the Attack/C-attack/Follow tools for my riders. On SOME of them it works, but mostly not.
I can't seem to figure out why on earth this is the case! No signs of the riders being tired, speed of the pack not too big, no fatigue, have not attacked earlier in the race etc, if any of this has anything to do with these buttons being available.
This is really bothering me beyond limits, as I can't do some of the tactical attacks I've been planning in a race. :x
Are there any clear restrictions/rules as to when the Attack and follow actions are available?

the bar in the middle cant be empty, but i've also experianced twice that i had full energy on everyone (almost on long effort greenbar) and not able to attack, had to wait for a km or two then i suddenly was able to attack. dont know why really just seems like a glitch |

The follow button can only be used within the last 12 km of a race (or something like that) on the flat stages. It's used to follow riders in a sprint.
You can only attack when you have energy for it. If your rider's third or second bar is empty, you won't be able to attack with that rider. |

Ah, forgot to mention that the bars are full or very close to full, actually one of the riders that can attack is lowest with all the bars, with the 2'nd bar being almost empty. So that shouldn't be the case.
But the follow button I understand, thanks for that. |

Be sure you have chosen your rider correct.
I find myself unable to give orders, if I choose my riders with left-aaroe og right-arrow.
Use up-/down-arrow or mouse instead.
But I don't know if thats the issue... |

Attack can be used at any time providing you have both yellow and red bar for it.
Counterattack can only be used on a rider who is allready attacking.
Sprint can be used whenever you're inside a sprinting zone.
Follow can be used leading up to or when you're in a sprinting zone. If the follow button does not work or is disengaged shortly after activating it usually means a stronger rider pushed you away from the position. Also, your rider does sometimes "fall off the train" on his own. Be aware of it and try to reactivate it if it deactivates.
If you find yourself unable to use your attackbutton with plenty of energy left in all your bars something is definately botched and you should attempt a reinstall. |

I´m new to the game, but as far as I can tell, you can´t attack og counter if you are observing someone. Maybe that´s your problem...? |

Yes I just found out this as well, can not attack while observing.
And about 5-10 seconds after taking it off.

I also noticed that your sometimes not able to attack even though all power and energy bars are full and you should be able to attack. this happens quite often to me and it pi++++ me off. |

I haven't experienced that at all. If all bars are full, you're not observing anyone, etc. you can always attack. |
