Team CSC - Saxo Bank
After growing pressure to clean the image of cycling, Bjarne Riis has agreed to step down as manager of Team CSC - Saxo Bank and will instead play a more "background" role in the team. Riis was allowed to choose his successor and has done so by selecting Mr. Majeune of The United States.
The new joint sponsors have set ambitious goals for the team this season:
However, the new manager will hold his riders to higher expectations, having this to say, "We will attempt to make history by being on the podium of every Pro Tour event in the season. While it may be nearly impossible, I have confidence in my boys." |

The Riders:
Carlos will be our GC man for both the Tour and the Vuelta.
The younger of the Schleck brothers, Andy will lead our Giro squad and hope to make a good show at the Vuelta in September.
Frank Schleck will have a busy year; he will lead our Ardennes squad, while also helping Sastre in July and once again revamping his fitness to win the fall classics.
The Swiss train, Cancellara has three goals this year: Roubaix, le malloit jaune, and a third set of time trial rainbow stripes.
Kroon will be a huge helper this year, looking to ride all of the spring classics and the fall classics as well. While he might not be a superstar like Fabian, he has an outside shot of winning any of the big races.
Last year's winner of the Hell of the North, O'grady looks to repeat his performance as well as lead the TDU team.
The ever persistent Voigt will go for the win in either Tirenno or Paris-Nice, as well as help out in the grand tours.
Those are only a few of this talent filled team. Updates on the Tour Down Under to come later today. Also, I promise (hopefully) that the screenshots will be higher quality once I start racing. |

Our first race of the season, and a Pro Tour event. We need to perform.
Stage 1
Dion of Ag2r takes the first and only King of the Mountains competition of the day. This starts a flurry of attacks for about 60 kilometers.
Finally, the break is established, and consists of three riders.
A scare for Saunier-Duval. Their hillman and GC leader Cobo gets a flat! The team sends back four riders and after a decent chase he gets back on.
With 30k to go, some big names attack and it even has CSC sweating. Hoste, Backsted, Hayman and a few other make a break. They power it on the flat and really get the speed up.
They are, however, caught with about 10 kilometers to go. The CSC train starts to be set up, and they must squeeze their way to the front of the peleton.
But disaster, O'grady is left behind as riders block him from getting up front. Cavendish will suffer the same fait. Its now up to Goss or Arvesen to claim glory. Forster and Rojas are the best set up sprinters currently, with CSC just behind.
With almost no competition, Forster takes the first win of the season. Suprisingly Arvesen gets 2nd. We are satisfied for now, but O'grady needs the bonuses to stay in contention for the GC after Willunga Hill.
But there is a gap in the peleton! Flying along at 60 km/h some riders just couldn't keep up and about half of the peleton loses a minute today.
Arvesen sits in second place for now. Hopefully some of the better riders lost time.
(I forgot to export results, so here they are in picture format)

Stage 2
The stage started out much more normally, with a group of twelve going away quickly. They stayed in the lead for a long time, but were eventually caught and everyone was content to set up for a sprint.
Our train is set up perfectly today, Cancellara Arvesen and O'grady are all feeling great today. But Pozzatto sitting on our train has everyone a bit twitchy.
The sprint starts and its neck and neck.
O'grady launches himself on the right, and Pozzato goes to the left.
Pozzato takes the stage, and the jersey. But at least improvement.
Pozzato really worries me, because he will no doubt be strong on Willunga hill. For now we have to hope to take the next stages and get a lead.
Results (for some reason exporting isnt working, i go to the folder and nothing is there... suggestions?)

Stage 3
The break goes from almost kilometer one.
But are caught with about 10k to go. The catches have been very calculated this tour.
Two different trains are really moving the peleton, and CSC is caught on the other side.
We are forced to sprint early, desperately trying to claw places back for the two sprinters. Hammond's work for Ciolek has paid off, as the young German has a good advantage.
Ciolek wins. Dissapointing for the team, O'grady manages a top 5 but its not good enough if we want to podium in the final GC.
Results:
The first win of the season remains elusive. |

Stage 4
Landaluze takes the KOM points by attacking the peleton.
The break moves through a town.
Again, they are caught. CSC - Saxo Bank sets up its train. I had a feeling this would be our win.
Still up front, O'grady launches himself just under the red kite.
To no avail, De Jongh takes the win and the jersey. A new person has had the jersey each day. Tomorrow, the real winner may be decided.

But first of all why don't you export the results instead of a SS .. ??
Second: I would also like to see results of the KoM and Sprint competition ..

Needs an underscore in it i think. Add a folder called exported_results to your export folder. So it looks like this:

Stage 5
Today is the big day. No doubt there will be attacks, but if CSC can match them or chase them down, there is still a shot at winning the whole thing.
Day of Toyota United breaks away and is chased for almost the whole day by small groups of riders. However, some stronger riders attack and catch him soon.
A super group holds a small advantage at the base of Willunga hill. However, each of them lost time when the peleton split a few stages back. In it are Cobo, Joly, Nyuens, Gutierrez and Terpstra.
Carlos Barredo rockets by the group and holds a small advantage all the way to the summit.
Joly attacks and prompts a huge amount of attacking from everyone. Pozzato follows but CSC - Saxo Bank is held in reserve
With riders shooting past him almost non-stop, the rock solid Cancellara calmly keeps the pace high in the peleton and the gaps manageable.
Finally, O'grady goes on the downhill, and soon joins the leading group thanks to the team's work.
The group now has Arvesen as well. Silence-Lotto sends a rider on the attack, but no one pays him much attention.
Finally, Ballan takes his chances and no one can follow, O'grady decides to stay on Pozzato's wheel because Ballan is a minute back in the GC.
Ballan gets the narrow victory, with Gerrans 2nd and O'grady close behind. There is a slight gap between the leaders and the peleton, but will race officials award a time gap as well?
RESULTS (this is hopefully the last screenshot as i think the exporting is working now)
Unfortunately there is no gap, which basically saved Ciolek and De Jongh. But we are in the leader's jersey.
Can we hold on to it?

Stage 6
We must place ahead of De Jongh and Ciolek to win the Tour Down Under. Here it goes:
The break goes away, and although large, we let it go. This is because the closest rider on GC is Knaven who is about two and a half minutes down. Therefore, if the break survives all of the time bonuses will be gobbled up.
Just as the break is caught thanks to Liquigas and Cofidis (don't ask me why they helped) there is a crash in the peleton.
Back on the front, De Jongh is being led out by a teammate while O'grady has chosen Farrar to lead him out. Ciolek is on O'Grady's wheel.
O'Grady jumps on to De Jongh's wheel as Farrar is too slow. Ciolek follows.
The sprint is on, and with 25 meters to go its close!
But, the German takes the win, and O'grady is knocked down to third place.

Having lived in the United states the past couple of years, I had to take some time to move to Europe. So, I let the other directors like Gallopin direct the races in February. However, I have now returned to help out in Valencia.
Here is what happened while I was gone:
Stage 1: Daniele Bennati (Liquigas)
Stage 2: Jose Joaquin Rojas (Caisse D'Epargne)
Stage 3: Ricardo Ricco (Saunier Duval - Scott)
Stage 4: Ricardo Ricco (Saunier Duval - Scott)
Stage 5: Ignas Konovalovas (Credit Agricole)
Stage 1: Daniele Righi (Lampre)
Stage 2: Lloyd Mondory (Ag2r La Mondiale)
Stage 3: Mark Renshaw (Credit Agricole)
Stage 1: Fabian Cancellara (Team CSC - Saxo Bank)
Stage 2: Oscar Freire (Rabobank)
Stage 3: Oscar Freire (Rabobank)
Stage 4: Denis Menchov (Rabobank)
Stage 5: Stijn Devolder (Quickstep)
Stage 6: Fabian Cancellara (Team CSC - Saxo Bank)
Stage 7: Tom Boonen (Quickstep)
Stage 8: Thomas Dekker (Rabobank)
So we get our first two wins of the season with, of course, Cancellara in the TT. Rabobank and Ricco look very strong for the upcoming season. Also, I am glad to see California is growing so much, with a star studded start list. |

Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana
The first test for our GC riders Schleck and Sastre, although the grand tours are still a way off. The race will begin with both as leaders, and if one distinguishes himself, then he will be the leader.
Stage 1
Millar attacks on the first climb to claim the KOM jersey, but slips back into the peleton to let the break of the day establish.
The break goes away and rolls through the country side, but the gap is kept to a minimum and they are caught on the final hill.
Cobo attacks, and brings with him all of the favorites, including Millar and Pineau.
Schleck and Sastre counter the moves, but aren't in form at the moment and struggle to follow the wheels.
Eventually, Sastre manages to catch up, but Schleck remains behind chasing.
The sprint is launched and Sastre and Perez go early hoping to get a gap, it looks as if Perez has the victory assured!
But they both burn out with only 200 meters to go, and the best sprinter of the group takes the kick off to the tour of Valencia.
Schleck crosses the line with Moncoutie a minute behind the leaders but just ahead of the peleton. It looks as if we will work to get Sastre a good placing.
Stage Results:
1 Jérôme Pineau Bouygues Télécom 3h34'59
2 Manuel Beltrán Liquigas s.t.
3 Fran Pérez Caisse d'Epargne s.t.
4 David Millar Garmin - Chipotle powered by H30 s.t.
5 Murilo Fischer Liquigas s.t.
6 Mauricio Ardila Rabobank s.t.
7 Iñigo Landaluze Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
8 Carlos Sastre Team CSC - Saxo Bank s.t.
9 Juanjo Cobo Saunier Duval - Scott s.t.
10 David Moncoutié Cofidis, Le Crédit par Téléphone + 1'05
11 Andy Schleck Team CSC - Saxo Bank s.t.
12 Pablo Lastras Caisse d'Epargne + 1'46
13 Javier Moreno Andalucía - Cajasur s.t.
14 Christopher Sutton Garmin - Chipotle powered by H30 s.t.
15 Luis Ángel Maté Andalucía - Cajasur s.t.
GC after stage:
1 Jérôme Pineau Bouygues Télécom 3h34'39
2 Manuel Beltrán Liquigas + 8
3 Fran Pérez Caisse d'Epargne + 12
4 David Millar Garmin - Chipotle powered by H30 + 20
5 Murilo Fischer Liquigas s.t.
6 Mauricio Ardila Rabobank s.t.
7 Iñigo Landaluze Euskaltel - Euskadi s.t.
8 Carlos Sastre Team CSC - Saxo Bank s.t.
9 Juanjo Cobo Saunier Duval - Scott s.t.
10 David Moncoutié Cofidis, Le Crédit par Téléphone + 1'25
Points:
1 Jérôme Pineau Bouygues Télécom 25
2 Manuel Beltrán Liquigas 20
3 Fran Pérez Caisse d'Epargne 16
4 David Millar Garmin - Chipotle powered by H30 14
5 Murilo Fischer Liquigas 12
Mountain:
1 David Millar Garmin - Chipotle powered by H30 16
2 Jérôme Pineau Bouygues Télécom 14
3 Dariusz Baranowski DHL - Author 12
4 Paul Martens Rabobank 12
5 Damien Gaudin Bouygues Télécom 8
So Sastre seems to be up to at least stay with the leaders. That will make this not-so-important race more exciting. |
