When I am playing a game it crashes and shows me a blue screen with a description that it has to reboot to prevent any damage to the computer. When I reboot and got back in windows it searches automatically for a fix and stating that this problem has been adressed in service pack 1 (which I have installed). So my problem is not being solved then.
Sometimes I can play a few stages without a problem. It cannot be my hardware (Geforce 8800GTX latest drivers - Dual Core 2.4 @ 3.0), anyone got ideas?
Thanks

Maybe your Power supply is going bad? Just a guess as that happened to me a while back - kept getting blue screens and then suddenly the computer went down and there was no power. Got a new Power Supply and don't get any blue screens now. |

I don't know much about it, but from my personal experiences, these things happen when there's problems with your RAM. |

Well I don't think it's the powersupply or a RAM issue. It must have to do something with PCM, because I haven't got any problems at all with other games or programs, only when I play PCM. |

Just because it only happens with PCM doesn't mean it's the software at fault. Blue screens are usually caused by some sort of hardware problem - driver issue, power supply, components failing.
It may not be easy to find out exactly what the problem is. |

I agree on you that in most cases it usually has to do something with the hardware, but I havent got any probs at all. And what I exactly meant is that PCM is the trigger for this effect. Have a hard feeling about this issue. |

the answer could be quite simple.
do you have any method you check the warmth development inside your tower?
i once had constant bluescreens due to overheating. ( ventilator broke)
prevent hangovers --> stay drunk

Yup I use coretemp. Both cores are between 38C and 40C.
Just used Orthos for a stress test. During that test it read around 60C/65C.
I got 3 fans working at medium rpm. I can change all three of them to a higher rpm for more cooling.
On a side note, I am not having problems due to overheating, which you point out, when I am playing 3 or 4 hours nonstop COD4. |

Just checked my email and the technical support from Focus has already answered with me with a possible solution. When I get back to home this evening I will try out PCM and let you guys know if it worked for me. |

I got the following solutuin from Focus:
1. Open Computer.
2. Open (C: ) Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files or Programs folder.
4. Open Cyanide folder then Pro Cycling Manager - Season 2008 folder.
5. Right mouse click 'PCM.EXE' (PCM) application file and click Properties.
6. Click Compatibility tab.
7. Check Disable visual theme and Disable desktop composition.
8. Check Run this program as an administrator.
9. Right mouse click 'PCM-Protection.exe' (PCM-Protection) application file and click Properties.
10. Click Compatibility tab.
11. Check Run this program as an administrator.
12. Click OK button and run the game.
I followed their advice and played for 2,5 non-stop. Everything went fine with no crashes. I just wanted to do one more stage and when I was almost at the end of the stage it crashed again!!! Goddamn!
Here is the information of the bluescreen:
Stop 0x0000008E (0x80000004, 0x8247E380, 0x80690080, 0x00000000)
I just emailed support back, and will wait for their answer. |

Please keep us informed concerning the support's answers. I don't think anyone here have the solution, so we're awaiting the fix |

It sounds like you are running Vista - so no wonder you have issues! |

I wasn't trying to imply pcm couldn't run on Vista just that it was not surprising to me that someone could have hardware problems while running Vista!
(Personally, I will be sticking with XP for the forseeable future!!!) |
