Has anybody been able to successfully activate their downloaded copy within the last 24 hours? I can't connect to the starforce site neither through automatic nor manual activation.
Seems like I'm somewhat lucky; I haven't had any of the download/key problems that others have had, but then again, it's not much good if I can't activate it and play.
Are you sure you don't have some sort of firewall which blocks Starforce? Other than that, I know for sure that the Star-Force website works fine. They are usually very fast at responding to their support e-mails, so I'd suggest sending them an e-mail:
I did read in the Cyanide forum that a similar problem came up in PCM2006 or maybe 2007 with a firewall blocking activation, so I did make a point to turn it off. I guess I'll just have to keep tinkering around until I can figure it out.
Yeah..I'm not really sure what I was thinking. Of course a huge activation site like that wouldn't be down for an extended period of time like this. Worth a try, though.
Okay. I got it to activate successfully. Here's what I had to do:
1.) Attempt auto activation (which would fail, and then prompt me to use the provided hardware code for manual activation).
2.) Copy the hardware code down and then send it to their tech support via email, since I could not access their activation website at all.
3.) They emailed me back a second activation key to enter manually within a certain amount of time (before the hardware key expires, or something), which worked fine. I still cannot access their websites, though, and I have absolutely no idea why. But I guess I don't need to worry about it now, or at least not until I have to activate it again.
To answer your question, though, my network setup is rather simple:
Comp running avast! antivirus and firewall (both were turned off during this whole problem).
Direct high-speed fiber connection, static IP address, no router, no modem, no proxy.
