I have played all PCM to this date, but this year I cannot seem to win any sprints.
I deliver my main sprinter in best position, but the problem is my main sprinter alwaysdies some hundred meters before the finish line. I have tested to go from everyhting from 1,5 km to 0,7, but no matter what it goes wrong and he dies in the sprint and opponents go by him at ease.
I use a train and a lead out man, is it because I sprint too quickly with the leadout man - usually at around 2,0 km and then main sprinter around 1,0 km?
How do you guys win sprints - can someone give me a useable tip?
As a general rule of thumb, I think leaving the slipstream with 800-600m left works best for me, which is later than in previous years. I don't have it perfected yet either, but maybe a few general tips:
Take the wind into account. If you have strong headwinds, get into the wind much later than with strong backwinds.
Monitor the speed of the rider you're following, be it your own lead-out or another sprinter. As soon as that starts to drop, you have to pass him, or you lose to much speed yourself. If you have trouble deciding when to launch with your leadout, this is a good indicator. I usually pause the game every two seconds or so during a sprint to check.
Also, if you only have maybe one really fast leadout, try to delay the sprint. Meaning, try to ride on dot maximum effort with your third-to-last rider even past the 3km mark if no one else starts sprinting. If they do, start sprinting with your leadout and catch the wheel of someone passing you by. As soon as they fade, pass them, as I said above.
