Three laps of a cobbled course await the riders in this year’s Greek National Championships. Vlatos is likely favourite, but with no dominant cobbler in the field this is anyone’s race.
The first cobbled section claims a victim as Bouglas crashes, losing control on the bumpy surface.
His woes are worsened by the fact his teammates have pushed on in a group containing all the other professionals, plus 4 amateurs, that has broken clear.
This group cooperates well and by the next cobbled section is catching the early break, with some of the amateurs being tailed off by Vlatos, Kastrantas, Farantakis and Tzortzakis.
However, Tzortzakis is soon dropped also - leaving a group of six, three from Festina and three amateurs, with 26km to go.
On the final cobbled section (no idea what happened to the frames, my apologies) the Festina trio break clear with 12km to go. Who from the team will take the win?
It won’t be Kastrantas, as with 8km to go he blows up. Vlatos vs Farantakis then!
The duo can’t be separated over the cobbles, and reach the Flamme Rouge together. Vlatos will lead out the sprint, but Farantakis is the quicker of the two…
And he takes the win (on his unicycle?!?)!

The TT should be Vlatos’ to lose, though Tzortzakis is decent enough against the clock - but will need the ride of his life.
Despite his equipment glitching once again (not sure why, Festina frames worked fine until this NC) Vlatos dominates, catching the two riders starting before him - and almost Farantakis as well - winning by over 4 minutes in a time of 1h06’45”.
