Team mates roles in Pro Cyclist

Hi, first time poster, long time lurker.

So I am struggling with flat stages because, as a pro cyclist sprinter, almost all my team mates are constantly "free element" or "puncher/puncher outside" and as such I cannot make them ride to keep the break close enough to allow a win.

Does anyone know what determines team mate roles for a race?

I would guess your "popularity" and "overall"?

A quick fix to that is to use the lachi editor to increase your popularity.
