One amateur rider formed the break of the day.
Fablok and Netia doing the most work in the peloton with 20 km to go. The break's lead is just over a minute.
The break is caught with 8 km to go and Netia swarm the front trying to set up top favourite Kwaitkowski for the win.
It is Paterski, however, who launches the first attack with 4 km to go. Chasing him are Honkisz, Kwiatkowski, Marycz and Lejman.
The five riders come together with 3 km to go...
...but the group splits again 500 meters later. Kwiatkowski, Paterski and Marycz remain at the front as the other two riders are dropped.
Kwiatkowski lets Paterski take over as they approach the final kilometer.
Under the kilometer banner, Paterski launches the sprint. Marycz too starts the chase from behind Kwiatkowski, who seems to be biding his time.
500 meters to go. Kwiatkowski is fading. He does not have anything left! Marycz has a long way to make up now.
Paterski wins. Now that's an upset! Marycz and Kwiatkowski complete the podium.
