Brazilian National RR Championship
Welcome to the Brazilian National Road Race Championship, 193 riders start the race of those 12 MGUCI professionals.
Start list (only professionals):
Spoiler
Cleberson Weber Azteca-NBCSN Magno Nazaret Berg Cycles William Chiarello Berg Cycles Emerson Santos Festina - Dexia Murilo Affonso Festina - Dexia Carlos Alexandre Manarelli Minions Kleber Silva Pendleton's Thiago Duarte Nardin Podium Ambition Christian Egidio Porto - Prio Joao Gaspar Porto - Prio Rodrigo Nascimento Porto - Prio Caio Godoy Vesuvio - Accumalux
Preview:
We got a relative clear favourite to win the Brazilian National RR Championships in Chiarello, not only the best puncher but also with the fastest acceleration.
Nothing is set in stone though, Gaspar or Silva might challenge a win on the right day.
Weber, Nardin, Nazaret or even Egidio might fight for a medal, but can hardly see them win this race.
The Race:
Quite a hard fight to get away this morning, we are already at the first climb before three of the amateurs are allowed to break.
The break gets 2’40” over the 2nd climb, over the 3rd reduced to 1’25”
The breakaway hold off the peloton rather late, we are already up the final climb before they finally have to surrender, with 3.4 km to the finish we still got a huge peloton, in front Chiarello, Gaspar, Silva, Nardin, Nazaret and Weber in that order.
2.0 km to the line.
Chiarello have opened a 9” gap down to a group of 6 riders. Silva, Gaspar, Nardin, Egidio, Weber and Nazaret.
The next rider at 37” clearly out of any medal fight.
1.5 km left
Chiarello have extended the lead to 11”
Behind him Silva and Gaspar is attacking from the 2nd group.
Chiarello, wins the Brazilian National Road Race 2017 Championship.
Silva outsprint Gaspar for the silver medal.

It would be a huge surprise not to see Nascimento take gold in this Championship.
