Preview:
Gesink, Kelderman and Schreurs must be considered the riders to fight for a gold medal in this edition of Dutch National Road Race Championship.
Kelderman the slightly better puncher but Gesink with better all-round abilities, while Schreurs got the fastest acceleration and sprint.
Slagter the only outsider I can see taking gold here.
Dekker, Olivier, Goos, Lammertink, Bol and Boom other bookmaker top 10 favourites, but a can hardly see them strive for more secondary medals at a good day.
The Race:
Two amateur riders are allowed to get away early without that much fight, they got 2’09 over the 2nd climb. Van der Sanden, Van der Velde and Keizer working hardest in the peloton over the two first climbs.
The breakaway has reached the top of the 3rd climb with 1’09”
Pace is much higher now in the peloton, notably we only see MGUCI professionals at the front of the bunch, mainly the top riders with their better helpers getting ready for the position fight to come.
The break is over at the 10 km mark, and after that eBuddy with four riders in front setting it up for Gesink
From the bottom of the final climb, Kelderman attack, Gesink and Schreurs at wheel.
Behind them also Dekker laying distance to the peloton.
2 km to the line, the riders in front has 40” down to Dekker and Slagter who has joined from behind.
It is clear that the trio will share the podium. Gesink no longer looking too strong, is he about to drop?
Gesink loose a few meter under the kits, just as Kelderman accelerates trying to drop the fast finisher Schreurs.
Schreurs not able to respond and Kelderman wins the Dutch National Road Race Championship.

Preview:
Two riders most likely to take gold in Netherlands, Keizer the fastest tempo rider, Gesink slightly weaker but more resistant on a long course like this one.
Should not rule out Dekker either, even more suited for the long course.
Boom, Van Winden and Dumoulin also very capable tempo riders, one of them taking the win would not be impossible.
Beneath those a long list of other good tempo riders, this will be quite an open race with many contenders for a medal or even a win if everything turns out right.
The Race:
There is a lot of wind todays mostly headwind or crosswind at 28-30 km/h, might slow times down somewhat.
First on the course is Vermeltfoort not the best tempo rider 1h11’35”
Right behind him we got Van Emden a lot better 1’08’33”
Behind him though we got Dekker, setting better sectors times, coming in with 1’08’12”, new best but only 21” faster which is not that much, either Van Emden had brilliant legs or Dekker will disappoint.
Lammertink coming in 2nd at 3rd sector, 3rd at full time, Van Emden surely had legs.
Boom 1st at 3rd sector, new best 1h07’53” 18” faster than teammate Dekker
Rijntjes fastest after two sectors that is a huge surprise and wow new best 1h07’35.
Is the wind down right now? Yes actually it is 15-20 km/h.
Dees another new best 1h07’29”, and the wind is back up to 24-28 km/h
They keep coming in with better times, now Dumoulin 1h07’01”
Ligthart 2nd 17” slower than Dumoulin
Van Winden with another new best 1’06’20” a fine time considering winds still at 24-28 km/h
Keizer with very impressive sector times coming in at 1h04’42” the best time we have seen in the nationals this year I guess.
Only Gesink left now and he does not look good, more than 2 minutes behind as 4th on 3rd sector, a very bad day for him ending up 4th at 2’34”
Keizer wins the Dutch National Time Trial Championship.
