The MGUCI has introduced a new rule wherein local amateurs are invited to participate in the National Championships of all countries along with the Professional riders. I will follow the exploits of the professionals as they attempt to win their country's National Championships.

Three amateurs form the break of the day.
With 20 km to go, the pack is not very organized but the gap to the break has reduced.
Burke attacks with 12 km to go. One breakaway rider between is in between him and the peloton. The other two have been caught.
The final breakaway rider is caught with 8 km left. Burke leads now by 31".
Burke's lead increases to 35" as he enters the final 5 km.
Many teams are chasing in the pack, but they're not catching Burke. 2.5 km to go.
The pack splits under the pace of the chase with about 30 riders in the front group.
Swift starts his sprint with a kilometer left. Burke's lead is 16".
Swift has closed in to a 12" gap with 500 meters left.
But it's too late. Burke hangs on for an upset win against the sprinters. Swift is 2nd with Kennaugh completing the podium.
