This database is made by myself and covers the best selection of the best teams in cycling history based on cyclingranking.com. The 'Best of Teams DB' gives players the opportunity to play with their favorite team against the best teams that ever existed. It covers a wide agespan as riders like Maurice Garin, Fiorenzo Magni, Eddy Merckx, Laurent Fignon, Alberto Contador and Valgren Andersen can go head to head. You can play as Mapei and be in a breakaway with rider from KAS, Legnano, Bianchi, Molteni,... Important note: every cyclist is 28 years old in this database, meaning in the best years of their lives. The best way to enjoy the database is to play a single season or just multiplayermode with friends. The teammanagers are as real as possible. I tried to give every team their own real existing manager. If some managers were already in the game as a cyclist, I didn't use them as managers for the benefit of realism. The riders who won a national championship (on the road or timetrial) have the correct sleeves and the rider with the most wins in their own country wears the national shirt. For example: Tom Steels in Belgium, Kirsipuu in Estonia, Cañardo in Spain,....Eddy Merckx is wearing the world championship jersey.
I have a list of +- 1300 free agents that are not in this database for several reasons (they weren't good enough or didn't ride for a good team or any team at all). The riders on this list will be imported in the second version of this database. More information below:
The next PCM, PCM2018 is going to be released in a few months. I will make a new database based on this one for PCM 2018. The difference will be that the future database will be suitable for playing 'careermode' as I will adjust the ages and stats so the cyclists will know growth throughout their careers.
this also means that some riders missed out on the first version. You can always comment in steam with the riders you miss, although I'm pretty sure everyone who isn't in this version will be in the second version of the database as a free agent. The reason why they aren't any freeagents in the first edition is that this first edition isn't made for careerplay. The shirts used in the db are the shirts that came with the game. No shirts have been added. This may change with the PCM 2018 version. There is no date for the release but it will probably be in the fall of 2018.
