Struggling on mountains - can someone help?

First, id like to say that i enjoy PCM alot, but i only have time for a single stage here and there, so thats why i just pick a mountain stage from a race, and just go with that.

But im getting furious that i 99% of the time gets beaten by the favourites.
I refuse to ride with Froome, but ive tried Porte, Bardet, Contador etc.

How should i handle these mountain stages?


What ive done so far, and does not seem to work is :

- Have my leader protected until i hit the mountain(s)
- I use effort dot, and make sure its not set too high
- Sometimes i use "Take position here" on the other favourite(s)

I allways ends up 3-4'th place, it seems like the other favourites just got that bit of extra energy Sad

Would be glad for some help, as im seeing people complain about "Extreme" difficulty is too easy, and im getting 3-4'th even on normal/hard.

The "too easy" only applies to careers, I think. There you'll usually find a few races which aren't that easy, but a lot of other races where the competition is weak and/or the AI not too bright. And where you can build a really strong team and plan your fitness peaks perfectly.

It looks to me like you're doing everything right, winning a one-off TdF mountain stage against Froome is tough.
