After the incredible stage yesterday, and at the end of incredible race all-round, we reach the last stage which almost seems like an anti-climax given it's docile profile. Lars Boom secured his spot on top of the GC by distancing his rivals in the closing stages yesterday, winning the stage and dislodging Bewley from the top step of the podium. No mean feat that! Van Avermaet moved up to 3rd after gaining time on Gerts and Kristoff. For those at the top of the GC, today's ride will be one to stay upright and try to enjoy their glory.

There are 32" bonus seconds available today with Boom's lead being 38". No chance for Bewley to beat him via that route.

The day's break consists of five riders:

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao
Betilson (Porto - Prio)
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/pum.png Declerq
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Sinkeldam
pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Schlecter

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%202.jpg

Betilson (Porto - Prio), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Sinkeldam, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao is the order through the first KOM sprint.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%203.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao wins, or rather, rolls past the first intermediate sprint ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Sinkeldam and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Schlecter. The break's lead is 6'6".

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%204.jpg

We're already at the second intermediate sprint. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Schlecter wins it. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Sinkeldam follow.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%205.jpg

40 km to go. The peloton have brought their deficit down to 2'22". pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Iberia, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/akm.png Aker, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ssc.png SPAR and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Aegon are at the front mostly.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%206.jpg

15 km left for the break with a 1'21" lead.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%207.jpg

7 km. The gap hasn't reduced much. The peloton still trail by 1'8".

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%208.jpg

55" lead for the break with 4 km to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%209.jpg

The peloton haven't caught the break yet but the teams of sprinters are setting up their trains. It's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Iberia on the left and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/akm.png Aker on the right. Can they time this just right? 40" to make up in 2.5 km.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2010.jpg

We have some riders dropped now. They are pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vad.png Arissol, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Malori, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/spy.png Stenersen, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png De Gendt (GC 22nd), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/wha.png Muhlberger, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/wha.png Bolivar and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Sulimov (GC 28th).

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2011.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao attacks with 2 km to go. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Schlecter is losing touch.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2012.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/pum.png Ciolek, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/jay.png Saber, Avelino (Porto - Prio) and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Zabel leading out pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degekolb are the riders furthest forward in the pack. The break pass the Flamme Rouge.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2013.jpg

600 meters to go for pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao. He leads the remaining breakaway by 9" and the pack by 18"

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2014.jpg

300 meters. The pack are surely too far back and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Bilbao seems to have this won.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2015.jpg

And indeed he does! Perfectly timed late attack to keep the pack at bay and take the win from the break. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Schlecter has been caught.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2016.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb has charged away from the pack and is in touching distance of the rest of the break with 200 meters to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2018.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb is too fast for the others in the break. The German claims 2nd. Betilson (Porto - Prio), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/pum.png Declerq and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Sinkeldam complete the top 5.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2019.jpg

The photo for 6th place shows us Avelino (Porto - Prio) ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/pum.png Ciolek, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/jay.png Saber and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ssc.png Guerao.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2020.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/akm.png Kristoff is 10th. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mos.png Bewley pips pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Boeckmans to 11th. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png Howard and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Zabel are next.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2021.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Boom crosses the line safely, without gaps, to seal his win!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2022.jpg

The pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png de Gendt/pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Sulimov group loses 5'! pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Sulimov falls to 29th in the GC and 4th in the U25 standings. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png de Gendt ends up 32nd in the GC.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2023.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vad.png Arissol retires inside the final kilometer of the race! One must feel for him, to come this far in this grueling race and not being able to get to the line.

Today's winner - pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Pello Bilbao.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2024.jpg

GC winner - pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Lars Boom.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PT/TONE/TNES8%2025.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/aeg.png Lars Boom's consistency finally pays off in this race. Having ridden here in the first edition, and riding here this year, in the last year before he declines, his journey in this race feels complete. Must be one of the feel-good stories of the year! pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mos.png Bewley has to settle for 2nd place, something he is not very accustomed to. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/evo.png Van Avermaet completes the star-studded podium. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Vermeltfoort wins the KOM after having been given the fright of his life by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vad.png Vastaranta on the last stage. The latter takes 2nd. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mos.png Bewley does win the Points classification ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb, who was the best pure sprinter here. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ebd.png Gerts rides the race of his life to finish 4th in the GC and comfortably win the U25 title. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/akm.png Aker take the team classification win.
