The break managed to hoodwink the pack on the last stage to leave the sprinters frustrated. Will we see a repeat on this stage? A more routine stage this time around means it should be easier for the pack to catch the break.

As far as the GC is concerned, there are bonification seconds available today, so it's not yet game over. Also, we saw yesterday how easy it is to drop out of a high GC position with Mohoric and Prevar, if you are not paying attention, so there still might be some changes that take place on this stage.

Seven riders go out into the day's break. They are pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Waeytens, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Zordan, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Foliforov, Afonso (Porto - Prio) and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert is the highest palced in the GC, in 41st place and just under 9 minutes down on pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Ponzi.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%202.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert rolls past the first intermediate sprint without a contest. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Zordan and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard follow.

Afonso (Porto - Prio) wins the first KOM sprint. He is followed by pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%203.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert takes the second sprint win, ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Zordan and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%204.jpg

60 km to go. The peloton trail by 2'51". pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Iberia, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Hugo-Boss and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png RBC doing the bulk of the chasing.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%205.jpg

It's pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Waeytens and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Zordan, the order through the second intermediate sprint.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%206.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard takes the points and seconds at the third intermediate sprint. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Waeytens and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov are next.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%207.jpg

18 km to go. The peloton still has full numbers as pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Iberia, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/evo.png Evonik and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png RBC set the pace.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%208.jpg

There's a big crash involving pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/iso.png Potocki, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/kmm.png Scheit, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Skala, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/akm.png Aasvold (GC 36th), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Toribio, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/iso.png Logar, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/jay.png Haas, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mos.png Danacik and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Minguez Ayala. They do no make it back to the pack.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%209.jpg

8 km to go. The break still lead by 1'8".

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2010.jpg

And we have another crash just under the 5 kilometer banner. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tic.png Santoro, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/t3a.png De Vos, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Teunissen, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Umerbekov, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Furdi (GC 15th), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Barbin (GC 12th), pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Feillu and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Olereich are the riders involved. They have no chacne of making it back to the peloton with the short distance left to the finish.

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tic.png Santoro can't continue and has to retire.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2011.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Ferrero have sent their team back to help pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Barbin. It looks to be a lost cause.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2012.jpg

Afonso (Porto - Prio) and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard have attacked and left their breakaway companions behind. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Foliforov tries to follow but is unable to make up the gap. Just 2 km to go.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2013.jpg

The peloton are 56" behind. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/t3a.png Podium Ambition have set up their train on the left. Porto - Prio are through the middle and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Iberia are on the right. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/evo.png Evonik, too, are trying to form a train.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2014.jpg

2.5 km left for the peloton with the break a kilometer further ahead and starting their sprints!

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2015.jpg

800 meters left for the break, who are back together. The peloton are 38" in arrears.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2016.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png RBC have the best leadout. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/evo.png Van Staeyen are on their tail.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2017.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard is leading with just 300 meters left. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov is tired and cannot push the pace any more. Peloton is still 24" back.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2018.jpg

And it is pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Molard! He does enough to hold the others and raises his arms in delight.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2019.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tsa.png Foliforov is 2nd, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Zordan is 3rd, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Waeytens is 4th, Afonso (Porto - Prio) is 5th and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/sva.png Vanendert is 6th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2020.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/nem.png Orlov is caught by the sprinters. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Van der Lijke and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb are leading the pack home.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2021.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb takes 7th. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/vsa.png Van der Lijke is 8th, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Stepniak and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/lpu.png Pelucchi completing the top 10. Coutinho (Porto - Prio) is 11th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2022.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/tic.png Guillen, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/jay.png Saber, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/evo.png Van Staeyen and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png Howard make up the rest of the top 15.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2023.jpg

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Ponzi is safely across the line.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2024.jpg

The pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Barbin and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Furdi group lose around four minutes. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/frs.png Barbin drops to 24th in the GC and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Furdi drops to 37th.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2025.jpg

Today's winner - pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Rudy Molard.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2026.jpg

GC winner - pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Simone Ponzi.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/PTHC/Ukraine/TOUS5%2027.jpg

So no changes to the top of the GC in the last two stages. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/hug.png Ponzi hangs on ahead of pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gre.png Hagen for the narrowest of wins. The case is the same in the Points standings, with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/itd.png Degenkolb barely missing out on improving in the final stage. The KOM jersey was wrapped up on stage 3 itself, pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/rbc.png Van Zyl head and shoulders above anyone else. pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/gzl.png Gazelle hold on to win the Teams standings. Same is the case with pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mos.png Vakoc.
