Tour of Beijing stage 2

[C1] Tour of Beijing

Stage 2 Huainan Circuit 121.5 km

Today’s stage is raced with many relative short lap on a circuit in Huainan city.
Originally just a minor agricultural town, Huainan started is development towards a large scale city with the discovery of coal deposits in the locality early in the 20th century. Today a city of more than 2 million people.
For those interested in Asian cuisine, legend says that Liu An (179–122BC) “Prince of Huainan” (an area rather than a city at the time) invented soy milk and Tofu.

The route is short and completely flat, with two intermediate sprints to break the monotony. We got some rather hard wind conditions today.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/HC/Beijing/Stage2/03.jpg

The sprinter teams in the peloton decides to slow down, allowing pcmdaily.com/files/Micros16/lpu.png Biermans to join the breakaway, handing the responsibility to pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/mei.png Meiji - JR East

Group pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Froome rejoins.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/HC/Beijing/Stage2/05.jpg

We have winds at the region of 44-50 km/hour sometimes with gust up to 63 km/h

pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ged.png Planckaert quite astounding have been able to bridge from the peloton, not easy under these conditions.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2017/Races/HC/Beijing/Stage2/13.jpg

It seems that pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ino.png Colbrelli early sprint did not work out for him or teammate pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ino.png Moser, both been passed by other riders.

The situation with 400 meters to the line is that pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/fab.png Lavoine and pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/bgc.png Santos is leading side by side. While pcmdaily.com/files/Micros17/ino.png Moser now in 9th position, but it is still close and all those first 9 or more has a chance, at least in theory.

Perfect race by Meiji - JR East so far, two stages in a row, GC first, points 1th and 2nd.

Logically there was no change in KoM, Giovanni Visconti from World Cycling Centre still leading.

Maximillian Schachmann took over the youth lead form Berg Cycles teammate Mario Vogt both still at the same time.

Generali – EDF still leading the team classification
